Roasty chocolate nose with undertones of molasses and bread. Decent balance of cocoa roast over soft touches of earthed bread throughout. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, light chocolate finish. A nice example... llcooldave (337), San Antonio, Texas, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 23, 2008 Its almost unconscionable that I have never tried this beer! Nice toffee/melanoidin nose, nutty with a hint of chocolate, vaguely earthy. A background of spicy hops. Garnet color with a foamy head. Nice clean presentation with a full rounded toffee malt presence. Tingling hops help segue to the balanced finished, which is earthy, semi-dry, and lightly hopped. Easy drinking, like any good dunkel would be a good partner to a wide variety of foods. dkachur (2411), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Kinda boring aroma of strong, strong grain. Damn. Taste is straight up roasted malt. Cocoa puffs? Nutty, earthy, grainy. swoopjones (1919), Buffalo, New York, USA

Taste is roasty, light burnt flavor. Medium mouthfeel. Easy drinking & started to open up a bit as it warmed cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA

Nothing extraordinary, but a real nice dark lager nonetheless. Burnt, organic/earthy scent with subtle hints of woody smoke and chocolate. Dark chestnut pour with a mild tan head and splotchy lacing. Drinkable and smooth with a creamy body and thin easy finish. The taste has a delicate balance of roasted malt and floral hops, each compliments the other really well. Nutty with a calm grassy flavor. Good Dunke
