This used to be my favorite beer up until about two years ago, when I started homebrewing. After that, I started expanding my horizons. After all that, I still come back to my hometown brewery RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Pours a clear but dark brown. Much ruby showing through when held to light. Nose is mild with slight caramel attributes to it, but overall not much really going on here that blows me away. Flavor brings a nice and deep, yet smooth, ride. Thick malts that stay consistent. Slight roasted aspect. Minor nutty tone going on here. Feel is very good with carbonation and the liquid has a smooth and thicker bodied thing going on. Another very good beer by PBC. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 2, 2008 June 2006 - Beer poured brown color, next to no head or lacing even with vigorous pour. Aroma almost non-existant. Metallic flavor hit in beginning. Much better as it warmed. Dark roasty malt flavor with a little chocolate sweetness. Nice flavor after metal left…but thin and watery. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2008 Bottle from beerbill and served in standard pint glass: Nice brown hue with a frothy off-white head and spotty lace. The aroma has a big caramel vapour along with chocolate and charred malts, fig and peaty esters, and just a hint of herbal hop. The taste is pretty much as expected, sweet and malty driven with a slight hint of chocolate and smoke as well. The hops are mostly buried and only show on the aftertaste. There is a touch of DMS as this beer warms. All in all, a drinkable effort and at 4.5%, very sessionable. biznizness (948), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA

I guess I’m bias going in, but I liked the brew. Can’t wait to have the rest this weekend. bryandhargrave (165), Richmond, Virginia, USA

pours a dark brown with a thin eggshell head, looks like a cola.
smell is of nuts, malt, caramel.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours a darkish & translucent brown with a one/two finger tan head. Aromas are straightforward roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt with a little bit of a tartness and some sawdust like earthiness. Comes off a little thin in the end, though. Not bad, but does little to distinguish itself.
