The_Beer_God (2800), Newport News, Virginia, USA Mar 1, 2008 Bottle. Dark copper pour but only a small ring of tan foam around the edge of the glass. Aroma is malty and caramelly. Soft toasty notes and a hint of watered down coffee. Taste is toasted malts, caramel, and some fruit notes. Body is light, bordering on thin at times with mild carbonation. Ends with more toasted malts, very faint coffee, caramel and fruit.
BeerFanDan17 (331), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Nice, smooth, and malty. Sampled at the St. Pete Florida Craft Beer Fest. Pours dark brown with a good balance throughout. phrygian68 (6), Columbiana, Ohio, USA does not count Jun 28, 2008 Malty beer with a little bitterness, not anything great, makes a nice session beer, equally good in the winter as in the summer, slight smokey flavor with a roasted malt aftertaste, decent drinking beer have had many times! PhillyBeer2112 (1814), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2008 Its almost unconscionable that I have never tried this beer! Nice toffee/melanoidin nose, nutty with a hint of chocolate, vaguely earthy. A background of spicy hops. Garnet color with a foamy head. Nice clean presentation with a full rounded toffee malt presence. Tingling hops help segue to the balanced finished, which is earthy, semi-dry, and lightly hopped. Easy drinking, like any good dunkel would be a good partner to a wide variety of foods. dkachur (631), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Pours a cranberry brown with a minimal head. Kinda boring aroma of strong, strong grain. Damn. Taste is straight up roasted malt. Cocoa puffs? Nutty, earthy, grainy. swoopjones (1047), Buffalo, New York, USA Jun 19, 2008 Bottle. Decent dark lager. Pours a sort of a chocolate brown with average head. Taste is roasty, light burnt flavor. Medium mouthfeel. Easy drinking & started to open up a bit as it warmed
