bsp77 (198), Minnesota, USA Oct 30, 2009 Poured from bottle into Pilsner glass.
Pale, clear gold with some head and lacing. Expected look for a Pils, but needed more head retention.
Aroma of bready malts and some noble hops. Smells fresh but a little too mild.
Slightly sweet bready malts countered by a nice touch of spice bitterness. Bitterness is pretty low overall, but has a metallic bite to it. Very crisp and perfectly balanced - fantastic. Maybe this is more like a Southern German Pils (Bavaria), as I am used to the lighter, drier, more bitter Northern German Pils.
Moderately high carbonation, medium body (fuller than I expect for a German Pils), somewhat dry finish.
Perhaps the most drinkable Pilsner I have had, likely due to the perfect balance.
yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Oct 20, 2009 Cloudy orange yellow color with a white bubbly head that fades fast. Aroma is bright, malty and citrusy. Flavor is sweet, light bitterness, doughy, mellow hops, citrus and lemon peel. Pretty good. Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Sep 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a golden pale body with a white head. Dry floral hop character, a hint dusty and earth y with a light fruit tone and a sharp drying spiced note. Spruce and a tad bread y. Nice brew overall. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Sep 8, 2009 (draft) Medium off-white head atop clear apple juice body. Aroma is medium sweet, dough, some spice. Taste is medium sweet, peach/melon, spicy. Light body, fairly crisp. ladnewton (200), London, Greater London, England Aug 27, 2009 Draught, at Ginger Man, NYC on 25th July 2009. Pale gold with white head of 10mm at pour, reducing to 3mm depth at end, fair lacing. Delicately hoppy with a certain amount of hemp/grass notes on a lively mouthfeel, to a very dry, hoppy finish. Very refreshing, and stands up well to food. Sonicdescent (374), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2009 Surprisingly malty aroma considering what I am used to with a pilsner. Look is interesting but average on balance. Liquid looks very pale and head, while leaving a nice lace around the edge, dies down pretty fast. Very smooth on the palate, grassy finish detracts from otherwise pleasant but unremarkable flavor. I add one more point to flavor and a few more to overall impression because this does remain a pleasant drink and gets better as the drink goes on. michael-pollack (2604), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 14, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, caramel, grains, and Noble hops. Poured yellow/gold in color with a small, white head that mainly diminished but lasted around the edges. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of malts, caramel, Noble hops, dough, grains, and some grass. Medium body. Crisp, dry texture. Average carbonation. Slightly sweet, light to medium bitter, hoppy, light caramel, and slight grass finish is dry. radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jul 10, 2009 12 oz bottle.
