I don’t typically like Penn beers, but I do love me some weizenbock - I also love 750s that cost less than eight bucks, so I was all over this one - pours a cloudy dark ruby, with a fairly foamy and lasting lace - the aroma is sugar-sweet, with fairly strong clove and allspice, and some plum-ish fruitiness - none of the earthy character I get from the better takes on this style - the flavor is also very sweet, with none of the wheaty tang one would expect - this sweetness is followed by some peppery hops that are a little strange, and don’t quite work with the other characteristics - some band-aid-ish phenols arrive later, followed by some chocolate, black cherry, and strong clove flavors - finishes with warming alcohol that is just shy of overpowering - lingering spices and hops - not a terrible take on the style, just too sweet.

Poured a reddish brown color with an off white head. Aroma was sweetness, lots of spice and alcohol. Flavor was malty and some nice clove spice, but not nearly enough to cover up the overbearing alcohol presence

750ml bottle. Poured a deep copperish / brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Lots of floaters. Aromas of bananas, cloves, and some black pepper. Tastes of bananas, the same cloves and peppers, and wheat. Alcohol content well hidden.

22oz bottle opened at the Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown red with a one finger off white head. Good head retention. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, dark ripe fruit, raisins. Flavor is similar to aroma with some clove, banana, and bread. Light to medium body with a slightly bitter, hoppy finish.

22oz bottle from Coffee District. Awesome smelling nose, tons of clove, wheat and bannana. Nice coffee colored pour with a tick beige head. Taste it falls down quite a bit. There is to much bitterness and its a bit metallic, a weizen should be much breadier and smoother than this, the banana doesn’t come through at all except just a wisp in the finish, no clove taste. Disappointing after a good set up.

Draft at Coney. Pours brown with amber hues and a creamy, light khaki head. Banana and caramel nose with slight apple sweetness and clove spice. Taste is spicy, banana with wheaty yumminess. Nice sweet after. Tasty.

Sweet, malt liquory aroma. Bready, biscuity, low bittering. What bittering ther is comes through with some tangy metallicism as the very finish. Servicable, not great.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Nice head. Wheaty, peanut, wintergreen in the aroma. Nice, full, lightly sweet, fruity flavor. A bit buttery, a bit odd.
