| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 17, 2008 Bottle. A dark brown body holds up a great big tan head that isn’t leaving any time soon. Sweet and clove-filled aromas. Flavor is decent, but pales in comparison to the Aventinus that I had a couple of nights back. It has a pretty dominant burnt flavoring... almost borders on coffee in the aftertaste. Also has a bit of an alcoholic bite to it and there’s not quite enough malt sweetness to balance it out. It comes off as a little astringent, but not terribly so. Bananas and cloves are there, too, and they begin to get more and more full as it warms. Pretty darn nice. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 14, 2008 On tap at Zeno’s Pub - State College, PA. Noses heavy in apple liquer and banana peel, fresh. Pours a thickly clouded burnt wheat, pale brown. Nice color and a tall, soapy head hanging on above in khaki. Flavor is rich and developed. Oh man, really intense fruit flavor. Intense banana, very fresh and real. This is one of the few times I’ve really enjoyed the weizen yeast. It’s kicked off some real-tasting banana phenols and some sweet reduced apple sugars. Yum. A long, long, long Noble hop draw, dewy, fresh, juicy and lively off the vine. Yeast are forward, but it’s so well done that I don’t mind. Alcohol stays subdued. Man, this is pretty decent. Fresh, well-conditioned, and full of well-balanced flavor. Deeper malt character would have propelled it ever further. bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2008 From 22oz bottle... This started real bad with an aroma that resembled fingernail polish remover. But after that, it was really enjoyable. Nice cloudy caramel appearance. Flavor was spicy and very good. Nice, lively feel in the mouth. Despite the aroma not being a huge turnoff, the rest of this made it deserve a 16 overall, and some return visits from me (I hope). zebracakes (1215), Washington DC, USA

Flavor is banana bread with bitter walnuts. This beer is too yeasty for me. I’m not a fan. Naka (525), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2008 A dark brown opaque color with a creamy beige head that lasts pretty well. The aroma is some spicy banana, a little black cherry, and alcohol. The flavor is a nice balance of clove and bitterness with some toffee in there as well. Some roasty notes, but overall, has mostly a sweet banana yeasty malt. Quality creamy mouthfeel. LinusStick (1846), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 5, 2008 A very nice suprise from Penn. Aroma was outstanding. Strong banana and spices combine to almost resemble black licorice. Pour was a nice murky dark brown with one finger tannish head. Taste was very refreshing. Strong banana with some raisin and spiciness throughout. Great carbonation. Medium alcohol burn in the aftertaste. There is a toasted malt sweetness coming in as it warms. Very complex. santos999 (318), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Murky brown in the glass with a huge, rocky beige head. Strong banana and clove aroma, with sulfuric and grainy, almost worty notes. Excellent taste while in the mouth, spicy, grainy, slightly bitter, and quite fruity, but the finish is overly grainy and almost metallic. The mouthfeel is a tad thin, but still kinda creamy. Not a bad weizenbock, but nothing to write home about
