Commercial Description:
Something has gone terribly wrong (or terribly right depending on your view) in the Brewhouse. One of the brewers must have added too much malt to the mash and made a very strong beer. Stronger than your used to from the brewery that makes authentic German styles. This super strong beer has put the whole place in a state of pandemonium.

- The beer is golden colored but very heavy with alcohol of about 8% by volume. It’s dangerously easy to drink, so as the bottle label states: “You’ve been warned.”

Appears a hazy, light gold with tons of CO2 pumping to the top. A huge white head slowly fades into a fluffy cap that leaves plenty of lacing around the glass. Smell is crisp, full of wheat, fresh dough, light citrus, and fruity phenols with a mild note of bananas. Taste echoes the aromas with a decent balance and the doughy lager yeast standing out amongst the flavors. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, chewy, and doughy with a stickiness left on the roof of the mouth, along with a distinct dryness. Very enjoyable.

Despite the low ratings below, i enjoyed this offering from Penn. Had it on tap at Mad Mex, in the bourse shops. Poured a medium to dark malty color with little lacing and a diminishing head. Tasted very sweet and went down very smooth with chips and salsa. Exciting new seasonal that i will drink again, albeit i am a biased Penn fan however.

My first drain pour this year. My god this was terrible. Aroma of wet bread. Pour was a dark gold with a thin white ring for a head. Taste was at first crisp and corny that transformed into vomit. I hate to say it about a Pittsburgh brewer, but this is awful. I was astonished that I was standing at my drain pouring 3/4 of the bottle down it (I had to give it some time). Hope I never have to do that again..it hurt my soul

Bomber. Pours a standard golden color with not much head. Aroma is typical lager - bready, beery, crisp. Not bad. Taste is smooth with alcohol hidden well. Good, not great.

22oz. Bottle: Faint aroma. Smells of caramel, malts, and corn. Poured deep gold in color, like apple juice, with a medium-sized, rocky, off-white head that diminished. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of corn, candy sugar, caramel malts, and vanilla extract. Flavor grew on me as I drank it. Hides the 8% very well. Almost like a sweetened malt liquor. Medium body. Sticky, thick texture. Average carbonation. Short, sweet, finish. Alcohol is a bit warming. Overall, it grew on me.

Is 8% ABV even that high? I’m just used to stronger beers I guess. Anywho, there’s nothing really great here. Seems like a standard lager with some extra flavors here and there, but nothing that great. Not terrible, but I expected more.

Bomber courtesy of lukin013. Pours copper with a white head. Smells of citrus, earthy and some pine hints. Tastes of roses, citrus, sweet malt, some biscuits, some nice chewy qualities. Mouthfeel is sweet and peppery. Finish is of caramel. Very nice!

22oz bottle. Clear burnt copper colored body with a nice looking, finely-bubbled white head. Nose of sweet caramel corn and a bit of DMS or creamed corn aroma, but not too offensive or anything. Dough and candy corn round out the nose. Medium bodied, lightly slick up front and then more thick (but not really thick) over the middle. Sweet starchy corn and grain flavor, light butter and light doughy fruit even. Overall a good beer, not exceptional, a little too sweet at times but it does has a decent doughy/sour yeast character that helps.
