| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Very clear, pale beer with almost no head. What little head there is fades extremely fast. Aroma is alcoholic and malty, with almost no hops. Very clean aroma. No esters. Flavor is alcoholic and malty, with a faint hop presence. Warms all the way down. Again, a very clean flavor. No yeasty, earthy or ester characters. Finishes very well balanced. Strong for style, but real nice.
Not sure why it is rated so low here, but this is a truly great beer. nuplastikk (1255), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Alcohol is apparent but slightly veiled through the smooth yeasty richness. I really like this beer, but was more impressed the first time I had it, when I assumed the alcohol content was a tad higher. A really nice Heller Bock, definitely worth a try. mwwise499 (6), Avon, Ohio, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2007 I got this last bottle yesterday. A little out of season. That probably would explain the slight skunk aroma. Overall, very good flavor. Clean, crisp, finishes very nice. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 14, 2009 Bottle purchased at Chucks Fine Wine in Chagrin Falls. The bock pours a slightly hazy orange body with a thin, quickly disappearing head. Aroma is fruity with a thin bit spicy clove and pepper. Orange and lemon are mixed with a decent bit of grassy scent. Flavor is very impressive. Its sweetness is pretty smooth and fill the mouth with the bock-y blend of sweet malt, grassy sugar and a little bit of clove. Pretty good stuff, would have been divine at the brewery over dinner. The aroma was sweet, sugary, tangy and lightly fruity. The flavor was sweet, tangy and fruity with a long sweet and tangy finish. The mouthfeel was very thick and full. Hid the alcohol rather well. Flavor wise I would consider this more of a Maibock than a doppelbock. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA

Smells of citrus, earthy and some pine hints. Tastes of roses, citrus, sweet malt, some biscuits, some nice chewy qualities. Mouthfeel is sweet and peppery. Finish is of caramel. Very nice! weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 10, 2007 Appears a hazy, light gold with tons of CO2 pumping to the top. A huge white head slowly fades into a fluffy cap that leaves plenty of lacing around the glass.
Smell is crisp, full of wheat, fresh dough, light citrus, and fruity phenols with a mild note of bananas.
Taste echoes the aromas with a decent balance and the doughy lager yeast standing out amongst the flavors.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, chewy, and doughy with a stickiness left on the roof of the mouth, along with a distinct dryness.
Very enjoyable. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA

Nice glistening bronze body, a tall rocky pillow of ivory froth. The aroma is sweet and fruity with very faint orange zest hops. The flavor brings some honey and big summery fruits, plums, pear, red apple, cantaloupe and honeydew, man this is exceptionally drinkable! I could get rocked drinking this brew... Not overly complex a beer… but I really do enjoy it, and that’s what matters most here.
