Sweet malt aroma. Pours blonde with a thick white head. Good malt flavor, definite hallertaur presence, spicy. It could be a little crisper.

Had it on tap at a Pirates game. Meh - I wasn’t very impressed. It’s just not very solid and it doesn’t really taste like a pilsner! its too dark in color and a little too malty. Maybe the discription of the beer is better.

Single bottle from Total Wine here in Jacksonville. Pours a nice gold color with very little head. Grainy aroma, but taste was quite nice and refreshing. I enjoyed this one before spilling it all over the place.

Tap. This looks like a pilsner. Classic clear yellow color with a big white head. But the taste of the grains don’t stand out. Poor finish that was kind of sour.

Bottle; have had the penn pilsner glass for about a year, finally got around to having one. Poured a ruddy, clear yellow. White, somewhat creamy head that had lasting power. Aroma was heavy on grain/malt and a general sweetness, and some light hop peppering. Flavor was about the same; not astounding but it was enjoyable.

The malt dominates and the hops aren’t really that strong. There’s a fair amount of yeasty flavour, none of the grassiness to the malt that I expect from a pilsner...the malt is richer, not really crisp...I’m don’t think "pilsner" is the best name for this beer. But honestly? This is the only American-brewed beer that I’ve ever had that actually tastes like German beer--and that’s a good thing. I am impressed. It even has the slight metallic taste that even some of the better German brews have. It still has some of the sloppiness present in many American micro-brewed beers, however...there’s an unpleasant sourness in the aftertaste, which I could do without.

12oz bottle pours golden and pretty clear with a nice white head that stays well. Aromas of noble hops over crisp grains. Flavor is grassy hops mostly but there is some grainy flavor as well. Palate is crisp and clean.
