Aroma had mollases, caramel, toffee, raisin and brown sugar. Taste was kind of unbalanced with mainly toffee. It was more bitter then I would have liked. Not a bad beer, just nothing special. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

12 oz bottle. Nice aroma. Lots of raisin and malt..some spiciness and cola notes. Deep reddish brown color with a pretty two ginger thick tan head. Sweet raisin and black licorice fore. Cramel malts. Molasses and brown sugar. I wouldn’t mind a little more flavor intensity, but this is still very nice. monty (39), Dallas, Texas, USA

1 December 2005.
Bottle.
Pour produces a tiny-bubbled head that dissipates bit stays. Aroma is of toffee, sweet malt and raisins. Flavors continue to be heavily influenced by toffee, but become overly sweet as the beer warms.
I like this, and like nearly all of Penn’s lineup, it is good but not stellar. A little more balance and a little less sweetness would be a start.

I am not much of a bock fan but have found this one to be rather enjoyable. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a mahogany color with a huge tan head that lingers. The aroma is sweet dark malts and molasses. The flavor is sour malts, molasses and brown sugar with a moderate floral hop presence on the finish. A nice beer but not a must have. dondk (28), leetsdale, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2005 Large light tan head of pretty big bubbles yet creamy on top. Light carbonation. Nice aroma with vanilla, malts and a bit of caramel. Maybe a bit of butter toffee. Color is a dark mahagony brown. Malty and slightly sweet flavor. Very slight tangyness to it. Not much hops. Bit of spices also. Finish is a little dry and leaves a slight bitterness on the tongue. A decent bock. Thanks to Matta for this one. JPDIPSO (4898), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2005 Dark brown with a hint of orange when held to the light(3+). Moderate light tan head. and some lace left as the head recedes. Very light aromas with some darker malt and caramel present. Fairly full feel, but some extra carbonation that makes it light on the tongue. Honey coated nuts emerge from the liquid as it passes. Some mild floral hops in the profile as well. Drier malt and spice in the linger. Quite quaffable. Thanks to DocLock for another nice selection.
