Commercial Description:
Until the 19th century, St. Nikolaus was a tall, stern, patriarch in bishop's robes. Then he became a sky-riding, jolly old elf. He may be a milk-and-cookies kind of guy today, but he knows what you want and it's this St. Nikolaus Bock Bier. It's rich, dark and full-bodied, brewed with a variety of roasted and chocolate malts. Celebrate the holidays with St. Nikolaus. He's in this bottle. Gee, we hope you've been good this year.

A very nice style. Pours dark brown with medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, brown sugar, some nuts and spice. Tastes malty, bocky, with a complex finish comprised of toffee, nuts, cinnamon, and brown sugar.

A very enjoyable Bock which is more flavorful than the other beers in the sampler pack. The beer is flavorful and smooth all at the same time. It could use more in the flavor department because not much sets it apart from other Bocks.

Light caramel molasses malty aroma, bit of smoke and chocolate. Light hoppiness. Medium dark brown clear, with thin lacing head. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. Starts with mild chocolate caramel maltiness and mild hoppy acidity. Maltiness throughout, though not overly sweet. Hops are fruity though dull. Mild bitterness in the finish, still some sweetness of caramel or molasses. After has some carbonic acidity and light sweetness. Decent bock, but kinda weak.

Only brewed for a short time around christmas. A hearty mouthfeel, taste of carmel, chocolate and alcohol. I have had it on tap and in a bottle. Its best on tap. If you like a dark beer thats rich on flavor you just gotta have this.

Bottle. I had this for the first time at the 2002 beer exchange. Thanks JZ. This one pours nice and dark amber with a spicy nose and a great spicy malty caramel flavor. Good solid body and mouthfeel with a nice finish of solid malts an bitterness that falls into a peppery spice. Good stuff, as always from Penn.

A nice winter bock here. I have always enjoyed penn brewings beers. This one didn’t dissappoint me. Real dark appearance with a nice rich head. Had a real good flavor to it. Overall I would definitely get his again.
