Commercial Description:
Until the 19th century, St. Nikolaus was a tall, stern, patriarch in bishop's robes. Then he became a sky-riding, jolly old elf. He may be a milk-and-cookies kind of guy today, but he knows what you want and it's this St. Nikolaus Bock Bier. It's rich, dark and full-bodied, brewed with a variety of roasted and chocolate malts. Celebrate the holidays with St. Nikolaus. He's in this bottle. Gee, we hope you've been good this year.

A dark purple color when poured with thin white head. Goes down extremely smooth, slight alcohol flavor, and a little spice at the end. A great beer.

Pours a brownish purplely color, a little transparent, with a nice amount of froathy tan head. Aroma is very very sweet and malty, I would say almost a sweet raisin smell. Taste is very very sweet and malty with some spiciness and gingerbread taste. Some alcohol flavor. Very heavy on the palate. Overall, a good winter warmer, but not something I could take a lot of due to the sweetness. Should definitely serve slightly below room temp.

Appearance: a bright plummy color, with a short, slight head above. Aroma: Super-fat malt at the forefront, thick, rich, sweet, wow!, loaded with character, slightly spicy, quite a treat. Taste: considerable heft on the palate, again, rich, malty, spicy, chock full of dark fruits, cherries, berries, raisins, etc., plus a yeasty bready quality. Quite a kicky ginger cookie we’ve got here, just the thing to make the jolly old man pleased as holiday punch. Medium to full body, with a long, lingering finish, sits happily on the palate, gets comfortable, provides a spicy, fruity blend of pleasure with every sip.

PepsiCola looking brew with light tan head. Malty, metalic aroma. Very flavorful but somehow thin bodied. Tastes of malt and sweet prunes. Different, indeed.

This a very good beer. Very smooth and a nice sweetness. I like Penn brewing A LOT!!!!!!! I must go to Pittsburgh sometime because just because they dont make all kinds of crazy ales people truly should realize they are top percentile brewers!!!!!

Tasted at the brewery. Nice dark flavor to it, and a rather tame aroma. Flavor is crisp, somewhat leaft, yet ends somewhat smooth and malty.

Dense dark brown body with red highlights when held up against the light. Pale colored and medium sized head with decent carbonation. Little to no lace left on the glass. Sweet aroma and dominant malt taste with a hint of sourness. No hop bitterness whatsoever. A nice enhancement to the flavor is achieved with a small helping of spices appropriate for the season. Smooth velvety mouthfeel. Very yummy indeed. This is my first taste of a bock, and I’ll be back for more. I’ll also try to sample more of the offerings of this brewery when I get around to Pittsburgh.

Kind of a weak malt nose. A little sweetness. Looks a dark ruby color with a big frothy off-white color head. Tastes pretty good. A good blend of a few different malt taste with some tasty spices in the finish.
