Apr 8, 2008 Pours dark ruby color with light tam head. Fruity and malty aroma. Sweet flavors of dark fruits, candy sugar. Medium to full body with average carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Not bad.

Dec 24, 2006 I wasn’t a big fan of this at all, had on tap, pours a mahgony colour, has a sort of roasted malt flavour to it, I didn’t like how this one finished, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Nov 30, 2001 one of the better seasonal chritmas brews. very dark with a spicy aroma.
nice thick mouthfeel.
lots of complex spices evident in the first few sips, then it fades into s pleasant malty bock(but a little sweet).

Sep 9, 2005 from the bottle. poured a dark brown, with a tan head. aroma, caramel, malt, some chocolate, hints of molasses. flavor dark fruits, cherries, raisins, brown sugar.this was a very enjoyable beer to drink, nice full mouthfeel, and after taste stayed around just long enough.

Dec 18, 2007 Draught at Pete’s Waterfront, Brklyn. Dark brown pour, malty aroma with some butterscotch. Toasty and toffee malt with buttered popcorn flavors. Can’t really get much out of this one other than just plain maltiness, which I guess is par for the style. Kind of a dull and uninspired offering for a seasonal.

Jan 30, 2009 THOUGHTS: It wasn’t far off from a doppelbock. Really nice, even though it really didn’t scream "christmas" to me. It was a warming winter beer though.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark, brownish red with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was moderate to heavy dark bread, grain and caramel malts and lighter chocolate along with cherry, red wine, port, brown sugar and alcohol. The flavor started sweet and finished a little bitter and slightly sour with an average to long duration. There was raisin, liquor, a little chocolate, roasted malt, caramel malt, grain and some balancing hops and fitter coffee. The medium body was sort of oily with tingly carbonation and a slightly metallic, lightly astringent and lightly alcoholic finish.
