| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Draught at Pete’s Waterfront, Brklyn. Dark brown pour, malty aroma with some butterscotch. Toasty and toffee malt with buttered popcorn flavors. Can’t really get much out of this one other than just plain maltiness, which I guess is par for the style. Kind of a dull and uninspired offering for a seasonal. Heathen (810), Riverside, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 30, 2009 THOUGHTS: It wasn’t far off from a doppelbock. Really nice, even though it really didn’t scream "christmas" to me. It was a warming winter beer though.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark, brownish red with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was moderate to heavy dark bread, grain and caramel malts and lighter chocolate along with cherry, red wine, port, brown sugar and alcohol. The flavor started sweet and finished a little bitter and slightly sour with an average to long duration. There was raisin, liquor, a little chocolate, roasted malt, caramel malt, grain and some balancing hops and fitter coffee. The medium body was sort of oily with tingly carbonation and a slightly metallic, lightly astringent and lightly alcoholic finish. joshwilfong (797), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2008 dark brown with slight white head. flavor is mostly composed of malts with some evidence of some Munich variety, definite some fruitiness to the malt that really is the most pleasant aspect of the beer. the hop flavor is not really evident but the beer is decently balanced. a rather flavorful lager, likely their best
