Commercial Description:
Until the 19th century, St. Nikolaus was a tall, stern, patriarch in bishop's robes. Then he became a sky-riding, jolly old elf. He may be a milk-and-cookies kind of guy today, but he knows what you want and it's this St. Nikolaus Bock Bier. It's rich, dark and full-bodied, brewed with a variety of roasted and chocolate malts. Celebrate the holidays with St. Nikolaus. He's in this bottle. Gee, we hope you've been good this year.

Bottle from pittsburgh. Poured a nice dark amber color with a small head. Aroma is of roasty malt. Taste is nice and roasty with some malt sweetness and some mild hops at the end. not bad

This is a rich thick beer but with some spicy/citrusy flavors. This isn’t what I would call a typical bock because of the extra spicy flavorings which I liked in the first few sips but tired the more I drank the beer.

Thanks to my friend Karl for this beer, its his favorite winter brew. Pours a deep brown/black with minimal tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, toffee and cocoa. Flavor is full of more roasted malts, coffee, cocoa and finishes with a nice hop bite. Medium bodied beer. Solid winter beer.

Bottle. Very dark. Quite good. Rich, seet and roasty, but no flavor is overwhelming.

Bottle. I had this for the first time at the 2002 beer exchange. Thanks JZ. This one pours nice and dark amber with a spicy nose and a great spicy malty caramel flavor. Good solid body and mouthfeel with a nice finish of solid malts an bitterness that falls into a peppery spice. Good stuff, as always from Penn.

Pours a dark golden color with a very thin layer of lasting off white head. Smell is good but has no outstanding qualities. A very light citrus/hop scent. Taste is good with a smooth spice taste followed by a hoppy bite and a nice aftertaste. Pretty full bodied for it’s type and leaves a nice coating feeling after swallowing. Very drinkable and even sessionable with the warning that this has a much higher alcohol content than it may let on.

Chestnut brown with a sweet syrupy aroma. Very nutty, chocolatey flavor witha well disguised hop bitterness.

(on tap @ Fatheads) A very dark bock with more roast notes than usual for the styles. The spiciness of the hops contribute to the satisfying dryness. Very drinkable, if a bit dry for the style.
