Commercial Description:
Until the 19th century, St. Nikolaus was a tall, stern, patriarch in bishop's robes. Then he became a sky-riding, jolly old elf. He may be a milk-and-cookies kind of guy today, but he knows what you want and it's this St. Nikolaus Bock Bier. It's rich, dark and full-bodied, brewed with a variety of roasted and chocolate malts. Celebrate the holidays with St. Nikolaus. He's in this bottle. Gee, we hope you've been good this year.

2005 edition. Pours brown with an off white head. Smells of biscuits with some vegetal notes. Tastes spicy with some nice tarte elements.

Tap at HDG. Deep red tinted brown beer with a thick light tan coloured head. Nice rich malt aroma, dark plumminess, brown sugar, deeply toasted malt and a soft wheaty spiciness. Clean toasted malts throughout. Light demerara sugar/molasses. Chewy sweetness with a malty plumminess. A bit too sweet perhaps, but very good nonetheless.

12oz bottle. Tawny brown with red at the sides of the glass, and a low forming, unexciting head. Nose of dried cherries and cranberries, cashews, almonds and bread. Moderately sweet bready malts with semi-sour cherry syrup, caramel and almond up front, turning quickly to a pasty, stale bread flavored finish.

Dark brown with a hint of orange when held to the light(3+). Moderate light tan head. and some lace left as the head recedes. Very light aromas with some darker malt and caramel present. Fairly full feel, but some extra carbonation that makes it light on the tongue. Honey coated nuts emerge from the liquid as it passes. Some mild floral hops in the profile as well. Drier malt and spice in the linger. Quite quaffable. Thanks to DocLock for another nice selection.

Bottle: Mahogany, nice white head and sticky light lacing. Nose of toast and fruit, some light spice and herb, very biscuity. A nice drinker at night. The flavor is full bodied and spicy with a well rounded malty backbone. Clean finish. Extremely drinkable. Thanks Nate!

Bottle from Jungle Jim’s. Poured clear dark brown with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Solid balanced toasted malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth sticky texture. Moderate balanced roasted flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. Good brew with spicy food.

A very nice style. Pours dark brown with medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, brown sugar, some nuts and spice. Tastes malty, bocky, with a complex finish comprised of toffee, nuts, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
