12 oz bottle. Nice aroma. Lots of raisin and malt..some spiciness and cola notes. Deep reddish brown color with a pretty two ginger thick tan head. Sweet raisin and black licorice fore. Cramel malts. Molasses and brown sugar. I wouldn’t mind a little more flavor intensity, but this is still very nice. zach8270 (2136), Henrietta, New York, USA

Reminds me of Yuengling Porter when poured. Good malty aroma. Has a strong malty taste with a little bit of spice to it. Nice strong finish. Very good beer. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Sweet nose of burnt sugar and toast. The flavor continues that burnt toast astringency, with white sugar, caramel and burnt toffee sweetness. Some berry fruitiness and some grassy hops and puffed wheat in the finish. Maybe a little thin and burnt in the finish. Decent winter seasonal. cheapdark (2049), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA

Yeasty aroma, pours dark transparent brown. Nice story on the label. 12 oz bottle. Initial hoppy (not possible?) or malty flavor - says pure barley on label. Has a personality of alcohol and it shows thru a bit. As good as german doppelbocks. Finish is a little bitter but does not linger for too many minutes. Not what was expected. I am not much of a bock fan but have found this one to be rather enjoyable. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a mahogany color with a huge tan head that lingers. The aroma is sweet dark malts and molasses. The flavor is sour malts, molasses and brown sugar with a moderate floral hop presence on the finish. A nice beer but not a must have. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Pours a mostly clear deep reddish amber with a thin tan head that faded to a ring after two sips and left considerable spotty lace. The aroma is malt with a bit of roast and some light stale mustiness, almost like old cigarette smoke. Thankfully, the mustiness is nowhere to be seen in the flavor, which is predominantly malt again with a bit of roast. Medium hops bitterness at the finish that actually grows in the strength after the swallow and lingers in the back of the throat. Not great, but not a bad beer either. As an aside, I like the Thomas Nast portrait of St. Nick on the label. Kevin (1920), Colorado, USA
