| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2008 Pours a dark malty brown with a smallish light brown head. Smells of banana, other dark fruits, sweet caramel malts, and a touch of roast too. The flavor was much the same. Pretty standard for a bock brew. The banana was apparent along with the malty sweetness, which wasnt too much over the top like some can be. Fairly solid brew from a mediocre brewery. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 16, 2007 On tap at FocciaLuna - State College, PA. Aroma is a light dust of hazlenut and toast, running sweet. Pours a mid-mahogany brown, rimmed with a soft slide of off-white.
Flavor develops a rich, darker fruit tone, with some toasted breads, candied nuts, and light caramels. There’s some light off-grain notes buried deep. It’s pretty average. And really the story of a bock is a bock is a bock. Finishes with a light noble hop leaf. A touch sweet and some light off notes are the real drawbacks, but otherwise has a decent malt figure. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 2, 2006 This is a beer for the cold weather. I love a good Bock and this one hit the spot. Maybe I am biased (being from Pittsburgh) but this was a great suprise from what I was expecting. The aroma was strong and almost smelled like a red wine. The dark brown pour looked like Pepsi (except for the thin white head). I was expecting something sweeter, but the roasted malt flavor and the bitter but not too bitter aftertaste had me thanking Santa after each sip. Dorwart (1822), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2005 Large light tan head of pretty big bubbles yet creamy on top. Light carbonation. Nice aroma with vanilla, malts and a bit of caramel. Maybe a bit of butter toffee. Color is a dark mahagony brown. Malty and slightly sweet flavor. Very slight tangyness to it. Not much hops. Bit of spices also. Finish is a little dry and leaves a slight bitterness on the tongue. A decent bock. Thanks to Matta for this one. blipp (1685), Newark, New Jersey, USA
