Commercial Description:
Until the 19th century, St. Nikolaus was a tall, stern, patriarch in bishop's robes. Then he became a sky-riding, jolly old elf. He may be a milk-and-cookies kind of guy today, but he knows what you want and it's this St. Nikolaus Bock Bier. It's rich, dark and full-bodied, brewed with a variety of roasted and chocolate malts. Celebrate the holidays with St. Nikolaus. He's in this bottle. Gee, we hope you've been good this year.

Courtesy of Afterexile. <P> 12 oz bottle. Nice aroma. Lots of raisin and malt..some spiciness and cola notes. Deep reddish brown color with a pretty two ginger thick tan head. Sweet raisin and black licorice fore. Cramel malts. Molasses and brown sugar. I wouldn’t mind a little more flavor intensity, but this is still very nice.

Thanks to my friend Karl for this beer, its his favorite winter brew. Pours a deep brown/black with minimal tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, toffee and cocoa. Flavor is full of more roasted malts, coffee, cocoa and finishes with a nice hop bite. Medium bodied beer. Solid winter beer.

Thanks to MuenchenerKindl for the opportunity to try this one Strong pour produced a small tan head on a dark reddish brown body the head and lace goes away quickly. Smell of malts and some caramel fill the nose Taste of sweet malts and caramel as well as some spice that really helps balance this out The mouth feel is nice and smooth A very drinkable beer would seek after it again

This beer has a good sweet smooth taste, not very rich in texture, but the taste makes up for it. Attractive color and aroma.

Medium caramel brown hue with creamy tan head and very good lace. The aroma hints of heavy roasted malts, caramel, toffee, apple, noble floral hops, clove, cardamom, and zesty yeats esters. The taste is sweet malts followed by a lactic twang (almost sour). The midesection does display some hop character. Undertones were a bit fruity and spicy (fruitcake like). The finish is mildly bitter and slightly earthy. The mouthfeel could have been heavier, lively and did detected alchohol warming. A solid brew, only lacking complete roundness. I enjoyed it enough to drink again.

Tap at HDG. Deep red tinted brown beer with a thick light tan coloured head. Nice rich malt aroma, dark plumminess, brown sugar, deeply toasted malt and a soft wheaty spiciness. Clean toasted malts throughout. Light demerara sugar/molasses. Chewy sweetness with a malty plumminess. A bit too sweet perhaps, but very good nonetheless.

Tasted at the brewery. Nice dark flavor to it, and a rather tame aroma. Flavor is crisp, somewhat leaft, yet ends somewhat smooth and malty.
