Powdery, softly earthy, rather stale nose. Stays linear all along, hinting at soya, chocolate and cola along the way, but never really focusing, never developing a fruitiness. Tiny bubbled carbonation mostly happens in the background as no clear bubble is felt, but the tongue is tickled at first, but quickly bitten. Light-bodied, watery texture. I usually dig Pennichuck more than that. This felt very ordinary and just too sweet for a lower gravity beer that I’d prefer drinking in big gulps. blipp (1669), Newark, New Jersey, USA

Toasty malt aroma with hints of cocoa and hops. The body is a bit thin for a porter. Light roasted malt flavor, with creamy chocolate and a touch of hops. Pretty good. blklab2007 (962), Connecticut, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 30, 2009 Pretty thin body and thin flavor, with chocolate notes and a bit of roast. Some sweetness. No flavor of anything really, just traces of what a porter is supposed to be. Uninspired, and a bit bland. zach8270 (2095), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma has a light malt touch mixed with some baker’s chocolate and roasted malts. Taste begins sweet and malty with some chocolate coming through in the middle and a lightly roasted and chocolaty finish. Smooth and creamy but a bit thin. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2009 Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours brown with copper to gold edges and off white head. The aroma has chocolate, roasty malts, earthiness, some grainy malts, molasses and faint burnt malts. The taste is roasty to mildly burnt malts to go along with some dark fruity esters and then moving into mild earthy notes. It gets somewhat dry for a moment or two before the malt and modest caramel sweetness surge into the finish. WeeHeavySD (2970), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
