The aroma is dry and rich, full of a roasty, nutty essence. This drinks with a creamy mouthfeel, but with only a moderate body. The first impression is of a crisp, clean mellow ale. But as it slowly settles off the tongue, the beer delivers a nice cacophony of rich, elemental flavors -- toffee, caramel, woodchips, and even a bit of green grapes. This would go well with roast turkey on Thanksgiving. (#3118, 10/1/2007) hopdog (5614), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2007 12oz bottle. Poured a deeper ruby red color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, citrus, light roast, earthy and some dark fruits. Very interesting. Tastes of roasted and toasted caramel, bready, and earthy. blklab2007 (977), Connecticut, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 14, 2007 bottle poured a dark chestnut in color with lots of sediment in the bottle leaving a layer at the top of the pour an inch deep of silty stuff. head is three fingers slowly melting down the glass leaving a thick foam on the sides of the glass. smell is malts, slight cider sweetness, and spices perhaps from the yeasts. taste definitely has that red ale thing, smooth on the tongue and a slightly dry finish. malted flavors, good spicy yeasts, slightly hopped and has a bit of burnt caramel in the finish. nice beer but it seems this bottle had a lot of sediment in it, not that that is a bad thing. beachbum25 (802), Powellville, Maryland, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 31, 2007 12 Oz bottle-Trade w/mcox90-Pours a dark ruby red color w/almost no head. Sweet malt aroma. Strong hop flavor up front, particularly for an Amber. Has some traces of roasted caramel & dark fruit, but mostly hops. Solid brew, could use a little more malt/sweet finish to balance it out; I think that would make it a very good brew. Long, dry finish. mcbackus (755), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Dark brown-red color. Nice white head that held up fairly well at first but receded fairly fast once I began to drink. Nose has a solid malty tone with a hoppy pepperiness.
Flavor is solid all-around. Nothing jumps out and grabs me and nothing repulses me. I actually want to drink several of these. Not sure of the ABV, but from the easy goin flavor this would make a nice session beer. Malty with some dark, earthy flavors. Some slight green hoppy evergreen balances it all out. Medium mouthfeel that has a definite ale heft to it. A six-pack of this will not last me long. mcox90 (652), Wilton, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 2, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured a deep red amber hue. Minimal head that stayed around until the end. Fairly light mouthfeel. Taste was slightly sweet. Maybe a little caramel. No alcohol taste, but it is only 5%abv. The finish was just slightly bitter. All in all, a smooth, nice tasting drinkable brew. FROTHINGSLOSH (2038), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 27, 2007 This one came in a growler from a fellow enthusiast in from New Hampshire for the weekend. The beer poured a dark ruby-mahogany color with a small tan head. The aroma was sour, tangy and malty. The flavor was sour, tangy and nutty with hints of caramel and molasses underneath. There was a long sour nut finish. Fairly typical for the style.
