Commercial Description:
Schwarzbier (shvahrts-beer) is German for "black-beer". Brewed to be a light bodied dark beer with a clean, crisp, refreshing finish. Its well balanced malt character is complimented with a touch of roastiness. Brewed using imported black patent malt and noble hops. Pairs with chunky dark breads, marinated meats such as brisket or German Sauerbraten. Not recommended for cellaring. Serve in a flute or pilsner glass at 45-50deg

Very black in color. Not much of a head on this one, but a very nice looking black lager. Had a decent viscous pour. Smoke and roast dominate. As the beer warms the beer becomes more pungent. Very crisp, but I wish it were a bit more silky/creamy. Very nice roast, and subtle smoke flavor. Overall, this beer just has an awesome roast and smoke flavor. As the description says, "crisp". I just wish it had a better palate; that is my main complaint. Picked up at Greens on Buford Highway.

Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & garthicus - blankboy’s bottle. Deep ruby-brown with a small tan head. Aroma of charred malt, light smoke, and a slight & odd sourness. Flavour is very nice, with notes of fresh roasted coffee beans, cocoa, heavy cream, and mild smoke, with a moderately dry finish. Interesting beer that gives more than the aroma suggests.

Bomber. Pours nearly opaque, and leaves some lacing behind in the glass. It’s a bit thin in the body, and maybe a little watery. Lager carbonation level affects the taste. Very faint chocolate malt notes. More treble than bass. Not as good as it looks.

Bomber. Pours deep blackish brown with off-tan head. Nose is dark malt, cacao, Wheaties, pumpernickle bread. Tastes malty, with cacao, rye, slight oak and hops. Medium palate. Solid, and a style I see far too little of these days.
