Commercial Description:
Schwarzbier (shvahrts-beer) is German for "black-beer". Brewed to be a light bodied dark beer with a clean, crisp, refreshing finish. Its well balanced malt character is complimented with a touch of roastiness. Brewed using imported black patent malt and noble hops. Pairs with chunky dark breads, marinated meats such as brisket or German Sauerbraten. Not recommended for cellaring. Serve in a flute or pilsner glass at 45-50deg

Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Transparently black, creamy head. Vague plastic aroma Medium sweet and fairly light bodied with clean somewhat rounded mouthfeel. Before warming to near room temperature the flavour is void and lifeless - only some slight molasses are there. As it warms chocolate comes out more. It finishes with low bitterness and a tad of cardboard. Remains a bit sterile and clean throughout.

Bottle, 650 ml. Pours deep dark amber brown with a small, tan colored head. I agree with the previous reviewer -- smells of cured meat. Id add to this an aroma of wet grass. Fairly full, creamy body. Quickly diminishes though. Notes of smoke up front, with a cream/milk middle, and a finish rounded out with hops. Good beer and one of the best local Schwarzbiers Ive tried.

My bottle (650ml) shared with GregClow, HogTownHarry & garthicus. Pours a very deep ruby-brown with a small diminishing tan head. Aroma of smoked meat, roasted malt and a hint of chocolate. Nice creamy, malty and smoky flavour with a light roasty bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Quite good, I really liked it.

Pours a dark ruby, with a frothy head that shrinks to a foamy, thick lace - aroma of roasted, nearly smoked malts, a little bit of doughy character, hazelnut, chocolate - medium-bodied - smooth, with a somewhat creamy mouthfeel - quite dry, roasty, and kind of smoky up front, coupled with moderate bitterness - cocoa arrives afterwards, and the beer slowly develops a creamy sweetness - this is short-lived, as noble hop bitterness becomes stronger at the finish, and a fruity, berry-like character rounds things out - this is a very nice schwarz - we need more commercial examples of this style.

Bottle (22oz). Shared by blankboy with me, garthicus and GregClow. Deep clear ruby with a smallish fizzy-creamy tan head. Oily, roasty malt aroma, hints of light peat and/or smoke, quite nutty. The taste - lovely - smooth and somewhat light, but a terrific balance of dry smoke, light creamy/minty bitterness and tame near-burnt roast malt. Average of body, slick, only mildly carbonated, with a whisper of astringency from the smokiness - only a medium-length finish to this one, but overall a solid, solid effort, very drinkable.

(Bottle). Somewhat sweet roasty fruit aroma, and coffee notes. Deep reddish black body, brown head. Refreshing roasted malt flavor, slightly sweet. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, and there’s not much of a finish. But certainly pleasing.

Pours dark brown with a white head. Smells of light chocolate, bananas, fuity. Tastes of roasted malt, brown sugar, some nice rich chocolatey hints. Excellent!
