Commercial Description:
Halligan RyePA is the third in our Firehouse Series. We brewed it with 25% rye malts and finished with Amarillo hops giving this beer a nice peach and sweet malt aroma balanced with citrus and pine notes.

Pours a clear amber with white head. Aroma of caramel malts, hops, citrus, spices. Similar taste, hop bitter finish. Not bad.

Bomber shared at Scottyp’s housewarming tasting. Pours a clear amber with orange highlights and decent white head. Nose of faint floral and citrusy hops with a caramel undertone. Flavor has a burnt quality, like carrots that got stuck to the bottom of the pan. Not that great, but still drinkable.

Pours a fading ring of beige head and a orange-copper body. Aromas of pine and grapefruit. Flavors of citrus and some resin hops. Finish is bitter.

bottle. pours a slight murky amber. Rye malt with some hop in the nose. Taste was not too hoppy, bottle may be a tad old though, hops seem muted. not too impressed but would like to try fresh

Can definitely smell rye. It is dark amber/ brown with very little head. A somewhat flat flavored with an interesting aftertaste. Slightly metallic.

(bottle - 22 oz) Amber pour with a thin and quickly disappearing white head. Aroma is very light with some mildly toasted malts and a few floral notes. Not very hoppy at all. Flavor is very bitter and sharp at the beginning, probably because of the rye, with a bitter and dry middle. Finishes very dry and very bitter with a lasting and cloying bitter flavor on the palate.

Large bottle. I am of the same opinion with this one as I was yesterday when I tasted the Pennichuck Pail Ale. Once again it is quite drinkable but at the same time kinda boring. No flavors really stand out. Rating this one slightly higher primarily because it is a style that I prefer but as far as IPAs go this one is towards the bottom of the scale.

From the 650 ml bottle with no lot code or expiration date noticeable. The pour is an amber-copper combination but leans toward the amber more. There is a frothy beige head that bubbles up and diminishes almost as quickly. The scent comes across ore sweet than hopped and if I didn’t know better, I would think of it more as a bitter than an IPA by its aroma. Decent mouthfeel with smooth consistency. The taste goes more sweet and sugary than hoppy. Sure, the hops are there but I notice malts and sugars more, which is a little unusual for the IPA’s I have sampled over the years. SInce IPA’s are not one of my favoite styles, I think this one would be a pretty good fit. IPA purists may be disappointed.
