Commercial Description:
Halligan RyePA is the third in our Firehouse Series. We brewed it with 25% rye malts and finished with Amarillo hops giving this beer a nice peach and sweet malt aroma balanced with citrus and pine notes.

Fairly dark brown for an IPA. Are they trying to achieve an English style IPA? We will see. Nice fluffy head sitting on top, of a dark caramel brown body. The flash was on in the listed picture, so obviously some of the true color will be taken away. A bit darker than pictured i.e. in apperance. A weird soapy, but citrus hop aroma. Some malts kick in to the aroma. The hops are decent, but they are not extremely pungent. There is that sweet English malt kicking in. The rye malt and the hops leave a nice bitter finish. This is not a bad IPA. There are many IPAs rated above this one that are a lot worse. Not an incredible palate; just your average palate. Sweet malt and IPA balance in the flavor, but not enough to make this beer a top-notch beer.

Dark amber reddish pour. Aroma of sweet malt tempered by citrus. Orange citrus taste, malt with a little sweet bread. Not a bad drinker.

Bomber. Dark amber, almost brown. Tight white head lasts quite a while but little lacing. Mostly clear. Aroma is mildly hoppy with caramel and nuttiness balancing it. Smooth easy carbonation. Finishes very abruptly and is pretty watery but actually has a nice lingering aftertaste like roasted dandelion or chicory. I think the rye adds some welcome nuance to the malt character. Other than that it’s a pretty bland beer.

(Rating #2395)

Bottle. Pours a lightly hazed brown amber with a thick off-white head, with lots of lacing. Aromas of melon, grain, citrus hops. Sweet and a little on the thin side of medium, with some light caramel notes. Finishes lightly bitter with a touch of grapefruit. Not terrible, but not fantastic either.

Bottle. Pours golden orange with a white head. The flavor has floral hops, sweet malt, and maybe a hint of citrus. the rye malt is evident in the flavor, though not overpowering by any means. Also floral hops and some sweeter malt. Relatively decent balance. Not bad.
