Commercial Description:
Halligan RyePA is the third in our Firehouse Series. We brewed it with 25% rye malts and finished with Amarillo hops giving this beer a nice peach and sweet malt aroma balanced with citrus and pine notes.

Amber, bright. Piney nose with some woody, mushroomy notes. Slight bitterness and an almost chocolatey, earthy character. Somewhat dry finish. Old schoolly, but it lacks brightness.

Pours a lightly hazy gold, with a soapy, lasting head - a lot of sweet apricot and peach in the aroma, floral notes, honey, light pine-like hops - creamy body - quite honey-sweet, with notes of apricot and other tropical fruits - hops come on strong through the middle, but not enough to balance that sweetness - they simple add a grapefruit-covered-in-sugar quality to the beer - mild rye in the finish - decent, but far too sweet.

bottled. Typical translucent copper body and off-white head. The aroma is sweet malt - perhaps vienna, the rye is noticeable as well, and a citric but also softer nectar hop aroma I assume is the tettnang. The flavor is sweet but the rye gives it a bite in the middle of the flavor followed by soft mellifluous hops. I wouldn’t have called this an IPA to start out with. Perhaps a non-traditional amber ale at best. It was interesting, good even, but when I’m looking for an IPA I won’t be reaching for this again.

Deep copper/brown off white head and lace. Grapefruit and medium malt on the nose. Metallic, grapefruit, and medium malt. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Slightly better than average ipa and very drinkable.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Pours a clear, dark copper body that struggles with a small white head. Earthy hop aroma over a strong malt base. The flavor has a light bitterness on the front end that progresses to a dryness as it finishes. Nothing really exciting but drinkable just the same.

Bomber generously sent as a trade extra by hopdog. Thanks! Sampled with Katie in Laguna Beach at Kurt and Marys place. Seems like something was off with this beer. Clear gold color with some fizz and a small head. Strange vegetable and stale malt aroma with little or no hops showing through. Rye is somewhat noticeable in the flavor, but overall it ends up being quite grainy with notes of old cereal. No crisp finish, no IPA bitterness. More so dominated by vegetable oil and watered down malt sugars. What happened here?
