Commercial Description:
Halligan RyePA is the third in our Firehouse Series. We brewed it with 25% rye malts and finished with Amarillo hops giving this beer a nice peach and sweet malt aroma balanced with citrus and pine notes.

My Bottom Line
Fruity caramel and floral, earthy hoppiness politely engage conversation in this prickly and healthy India Pale Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the clear bronzed amber.
-The finishing leafy hop bitterness is lenient.
-It felt like the hops very either tired or the beer too old; they had few of the desired traits described in their commercial presentation. In any case, one expects more freshness and brightness for an American-brewed IPA.
-Orangey fruitiness flows on by, agreeing with the slender caramel malts.

Sweet aroma of hops and malt. Clear dark orange color with a small white head. Sweet malt beginning with a hoppy middle and a mild finish. Palate is good in the beginning but thins out in the end.

2008-10-22. Orange-amber body with a modest off white head. (3+) Aroma is a bit odd, dilute grainy character. Mild hops. Flavour is similar, dilute grains, touch astringent, muted citrus hops. Average palate. Do not care for it over all. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Pours a transparent copper orange with a thin, spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of toasty grainy malts and a touch of peppery citrusy hops. Body starts with average fullness and mild malty sweetness with a good bittering hop balance before a drier, peppery bittersweet finish. An ok IPA, but could use more of an assertive fresh hop character.

Bottle (22oz). Shared by blankboy with me garthicus, jerc and mabel. Clear light copper, average off-white frothy head. Dry, leafy, slightly burnt caramel malt. Taste follows - slightly herbal, oddly sweet - a bit like an over-hopped bitter. Slick, average carbonation, a little weak.

Pours a three-fingered thick cream head that slowly fades to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Hoppy nose. Flavor is a typical IPA, hints of caramel but quickly to hoppy bitterness at finish. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Overpriced at $10.99 for a 22oz bottle from Barb’s Beer Emporium Concord, NH.

(Draught) Pours a clear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of rye, grain, caramel, and citrus. Flavor of hops (orange, peach, grassy), caramel malt, and rye bread with a bitter finish.
