Commercial Description:
Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with its 8.1% ABV and dark fruit (raisin & plum) undertones. Notes of whiskey aromatics are brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.

Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso and (vanilla beans which are new for 2007) and an improved mouthfeel that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with it’s increased ABV now at 10%. Undertones of dark fruit (raisin & plum) and licorice with low bittering hops make this vintage beer worthy of cellaring for many years to come. Finishing notes of whiskey aromatics are once again brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.
Won a Silver Medal at the 2007 IBF.

Sample at the 2008 VT Brewers Fest - Poured a very dark black/brown in color with a small tan head. Some lacing. Aroma is very strong of darkly roasted malts, coffee and dark fruits with a hint of chocolate. Flavor followed the aroma profile pretty closely. Flavor is roasty with plenty of dark malts and lots of coffee. Slightly sweet with flavors of dark fruits lasting through to the finish. I really liked this one...

Courtesy of Dragonstout. Thanks a lot, Brian! Huge dark fruit aroma followed by dark chocolate, fudge, cocoa and treacle. Very nice aroma. The body is deep black and holds a receding thumb sized mocha head. The first sip offers gobs of treacle, some light smoke, a dose of sweet chocolate, cocoa, cream and assorted dark fruits. A little thin, but VERY tasty. I like.

1 Liter Flip Top, 2006 vintage. Pours black with a 1 finger light brown head. Nose is full of Coffee. Taste is sweet and light with a nice burnt coffee taste. Pretty good, not as good as I’d liked but alright.

Bottle received via trade with 46er3498. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy, dark brown head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, coffee, nutty), light hops (grass), heavy yeast (leather) with notes of vanilla, light whiskey, oak, prunes, and dates. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

Bottle. I can’t remember who brought this one, but thank you for sharing. Poured an opaque black color with a light tan head. Aroma was of chocolate, cocoa powder, and vanilla. Medium to full bodied and sweet on the tongue. I tasted cocoa and molasses mostly without any hint of booze from the barrel aging. Also, the espresso so prominently advertised in the beer’s name was nowhere to be found in the aroma or flavor. Decent enough, though.

What a strange beer. Black pour with a tan head. Aroma was chocolate and a bit of raisin. Flavor was up front cocoa pebbles, some milk chocolate, and a bit of nutty weirdness. Finishes very silky, but on the thin side. Very weird. Thanks to whomever sent this to me, wish I remembered...

The fireman. This poured black with an orange tan head. The aroma was strong milk chocolate and pancakes. There was also some sweet cherries and cola. The taste was cola and milk chocolate. There was also some wood and cigars. Almost like a milk shake, and where was the espresso, because I could not taste it.
