Commercial Description:
Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with its 8.1% ABV and dark fruit (raisin & plum) undertones. Notes of whiskey aromatics are brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.

Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso and (vanilla beans which are new for 2007) and an improved mouthfeel that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with it’s increased ABV now at 10%. Undertones of dark fruit (raisin & plum) and licorice with low bittering hops make this vintage beer worthy of cellaring for many years to come. Finishing notes of whiskey aromatics are once again brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.
Won a Silver Medal at the 2007 IBF.

The fireman. This poured black with an orange tan head. The aroma was strong milk chocolate and pancakes. There was also some sweet cherries and cola. The taste was cola and milk chocolate. There was also some wood and cigars. Almost like a milk shake, and where was the espresso, because I could not taste it.

Dark brown. Burnt raisin - the classic impy nose. Some fudgey notes. Decent body, with some toasty notes and a hint of coffee. Pretty standard for the style.

Bottle. Pours a deep black with a thin fizzy head with very little glass retention. Aroma is overwhelmingly roasted and coffee flavors. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, sugar, vanilla, and tobacco. Palate was a little thinner than expected.

Courtesy Draonstout. Thanks Brian! Pours black with a small off white head. Smells pretty creamy, some light chocolate, malts, and a touch of alcohol. Overall mild aroma. The flavor was more sweet than the nose let on. Dark chocolate, roasty nuts, and malts as well. The finish was riich with caramel which gave it a smooth mouthfeel and went down easy. Decent impy.

Bottle (2006)... GIABMISGFAB... Opaque, pitch black ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. The rich aroma provides gobs of milk chocolate, pipe tobacco and damp, Madagascar vanilla bean. Full-bodied and ultra silky with modest carbonation. Chocolate and molasses. A touch too sweet for my tooth. Sweet, chocolaty finish. More hops or less residual sugar and this baby is world class! A big SHOUT goes out to DragonStout for sharing his bottle!

Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy Dragonstout. Pours a deep black with brownish highlights. Decent head on this one, and leaves wet spots of lacing. Caramel aroma. Sweet candy, basically: some cotton candy and toffee, too. Sweet flavors, roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, some banana? Unique. Medium-bodied, bitter finish. It’s sticky, but finishes well, and is quite enjoyable.
