Commercial Description:
Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with its 8.1% ABV and dark fruit (raisin & plum) undertones. Notes of whiskey aromatics are brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.

Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso and (vanilla beans which are new for 2007) and an improved mouthfeel that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with it’s increased ABV now at 10%. Undertones of dark fruit (raisin & plum) and licorice with low bittering hops make this vintage beer worthy of cellaring for many years to come. Finishing notes of whiskey aromatics are once again brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.
Won a Silver Medal at the 2007 IBF.

The wifey and I thoroughly enjoyed this brew while watching the kiddies play put in the snow... This is deep space black with a decent caramel head.. Strong aroma of chocolate and espresso with an underlying current of vanilla and oak.. Espresso dominates the palate followed by chocolate and dark roasted malts... Delicious.. This was a special treat that I’m glad I got to try...

Pours nice dark brown with tan head. Aroma of deep, dark roasted espresso, dark chocolate, molasses, caramel, toffee, whiskey, some grape. Flavor is simple, yet really well done in terms of layering: sweet dark chocolate fades into strong roasted coffee, finishing with sweet toffee, vanilla, and caramel from the whiskey barrel-aging. Some dark fruits come out, but they remain quite subtle, as do the bittering hops. Body is nice and thick but slightly sticky with little carbonation. As this warms, the flavor dissipates to muddled vanilla notes.

Pours dark and opaque with a small tan head. Aroma is espresso, as promised, with notes of chocolate, caramel, and subtle hints of whiskey and wood. Could have had more body and that weakened it. The flavor was moderately sweet with nice cafe mocha elements.

Poured a very dark brown color with a tan head. Roasty chocolate, hints of soy, and some coffee at the end. The flavor was mostly coffee and roasted malt. Semi-dry finish with a light to medium body.

Bottle at Travis’ (El_Duderino) Bday party. Pours with a dark brown body topped by a medium thick head and some lacing. It’s sweet and malty with notes of sugar and not much else, maybe a little vanilla. Full bodied and smooth.

Appearance: Pours a black body with a very, very small tan head. Smell: Dark roasted maltiness with full notes of chocolate, sweetened coffee, and lush dark caramel. Taste: Milk chocolatey from the onset with a jazzy, yes jazzy sweetness followed by the taste of a sugar-laced espresso drink. Dark caramel flavor that increases by a factor of three as the beer warms. Very light earthy bitterness. You can taste the perky alcohol presence from time to time. More of that dessert-worthy, rich chocolate flavor returns for the smooth finish. Mouthfeel: Just a hair above medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Drinkability: I have no idea how to pronounce its name, but I did enjoy it. Quite tasty.
