Commercial Description:
Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with its 8.1% ABV and dark fruit (raisin & plum) undertones. Notes of whiskey aromatics are brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.

Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso and (vanilla beans which are new for 2007) and an improved mouthfeel that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with it’s increased ABV now at 10%. Undertones of dark fruit (raisin & plum) and licorice with low bittering hops make this vintage beer worthy of cellaring for many years to come. Finishing notes of whiskey aromatics are once again brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.
Won a Silver Medal at the 2007 IBF.

Thanks to hellbilly for sharing at bockyhorsey’s. Pours jet black with a very light tan head. Aroma is of really light roast; quite airy and thin. Taste is to match - quite light and thin, some clean roast/coffee/whiskey. Very lightly carbonated and thin. Drinkable as all get-out, but not complex or interesting at all.

Bottle courtesy of Immy on 01/24/2009. Very dark black body with a medium creamy light brown head. Big roast, caramel and coffee bitter aroma. Dry roast, chocolate and coffee flavor with a dry bitter finish. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Robust malt aroma. Black with a medium brown head. Mild short lasting sweet beginning with a strong lingering malt bitterness and alcohol burn ending. Palate is light for a imperial stout.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin off white head. Aroma and flavor are completely dominated by a harsh astringency that overwhelmed everything else. Not as good as their other version.

1 liter swingtop. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of rich chocolate, some coffee, some spice, pepper, burnt matl. Tastes of upfront chocolate, coffee, some hints of warming alcohol. Nicely balanced!

Sampled at the Bockyhorsey tasting, courtesy of hellbilly. Deep black pour with a creamy tan head that lasts. Nice roasty aroma of coffee, grain, malt and vanilla. Nice roasty flavor as well, with alcohol coming through on the finish. Not bad at all.

Bottle at Bockys courtesy of hellbilly. Pours a nice jet black with a brown head. Aroma is slightly sour lactic, roasted barley, cocoa. Flavor is slightly metallic, roast, barley, cocoa, a touch of sourness. Not balanced, but interesting.

Bottle at bockyhorsey’s pad. The label means business - it looks like some sort of official Soviet parcel. Pours charcoal black with a trim brown head. Looks better than it tastes. Thin with espresso, slight vanilla, barley, and burnt caramel. A hot mess.
