Commercial Description:
Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with its 8.1% ABV and dark fruit (raisin & plum) undertones. Notes of whiskey aromatics are brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.

Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso and (vanilla beans which are new for 2007) and an improved mouthfeel that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with it’s increased ABV now at 10%. Undertones of dark fruit (raisin & plum) and licorice with low bittering hops make this vintage beer worthy of cellaring for many years to come. Finishing notes of whiskey aromatics are once again brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.
Won a Silver Medal at the 2007 IBF.

Bottle at Bockys courtesy of hellbilly. Pours a nice jet black with a brown head. Aroma is slightly sour lactic, roasted barley, cocoa. Flavor is slightly metallic, roast, barley, cocoa, a touch of sourness. Not balanced, but interesting.

Bottle at bockyhorsey’s pad. The label means business - it looks like some sort of official Soviet parcel. Pours charcoal black with a trim brown head. Looks better than it tastes. Thin with espresso, slight vanilla, barley, and burnt caramel. A hot mess.

1 liter bottle. Pours a deep dark brownish black and a thin fizzy deep tan head. Aroma is some harsh whiskey, fusel, solvent, diacetyl and chocolate and and old coffee grounds. I get a slightly metallic and sour flavor , old coffee, some dark bitter harsh chocolate, mosre solvent, high whiskey more butter, oak, wood and some old rotting garbage. Just a mess.

1Liter swing top 2008 bottle. courtesy of bigebeer. Purely amazing beer. Pours deel black with thick brown head. Aroma of light espresso, wood, whiskey, vanilla and plenty of sweetness and dark fruits. Taste, vanilla came up front followed by the espresso. As the beer warmed up the whiskey started giving a good boozy kick to the beer. Notes of dark fruits, and everything remaining very sweet. Later on, the vanilla became more noticeable, always with the whiskey giving the beer another dimension. Overall this is an amazing beer, with 1liter there is plenty to ensure that it is fully enjoyed.

’08 Oak Barrel Brewers Reserve-1 Liter bottle-pours a dissipating brown head and black color. Aroma is bourbon, alcohol, dark malt, vanilla, initially. As the beer warms-the aroma changes a lot. Taste is tart fruit/sour, wood/oak, acidic. Not sure this is the end result they were looking for.

1 Liter bottle- pours a creamy light brown had and black color. Aroma is coffee, dark malt. Taste is coffee, licorice, dark malt, acidic, secondary hops. OK carbonation. Not my style, but nice. Occasional.

2008 swing-top bottle. Dark pour that’s chestnut colored around the edges, with a dense tan head. Very fruity smelling - cherries, dates, plum. The vanilla and coffee are there, but very well integrated. Lots of coffee, whiskey, and chocolate character. Alcohol comes through. Smoky and woody, bitter almond nuttiness, piney hops. Really smooth flavor - oaky and smoky. Whiskey and coffee all over the place, but dangerously smooth and drinkable. Silky smooth body and a slightly hot finish. Lingering bitter aftertaste that’s basically all hops and coffee, with some dark cocoa. Flavor is not as fruit forward as the aroma. Nice beer.

750 mL bottle. Black oily pour with a medium dark brown head. Aroma of vanilla beans, coffee, burnt chocolate, almonds and smokey oak. Taste starts out velvety smooth then packs a punch of taste explosion with bitter chocolate, burnt almonds and faint vanilla. Alcohol warms the finish. Very different, very good.

Thanks to mcox90, my secret santa for this gem! Pours transparent black with small disappearing tan head. The aroma is of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oatmeal, roasted malts. The flavor is milky, has notes of coffee, chocolate, bitter dark malts, and a small amount of hop presence. The mouthfeel is milky a slightly thick. Overall this is a fine fine imperial stout!
