Commercial Description:
Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with its 8.1% ABV and dark fruit (raisin & plum) undertones. Notes of whiskey aromatics are brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.

Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso and (vanilla beans which are new for 2007) and an improved mouthfeel that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with it’s increased ABV now at 10%. Undertones of dark fruit (raisin & plum) and licorice with low bittering hops make this vintage beer worthy of cellaring for many years to come. Finishing notes of whiskey aromatics are once again brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.
Won a Silver Medal at the 2007 IBF.

Dark brown. Burnt raisin - the classic impy nose. Some fudgey notes. Decent body, with some toasty notes and a hint of coffee. Pretty standard for the style.

Bottle at LCRBM 5 at Kulminator. Some coffee. But more choc than anything else. Burnt flavours in the mouth and mouthfeel.

Thank you Steve/Coldbrewky for this magnificent gift that came out of no where!! Customs had opened the box and were sloppy when putting the bottle back, so the swing-top had leaked. Normally I let beers that have travelled rest at least 14 days, but I didn’t dare to wait, so I had it the same day I got it - June 13. 2007 and it’s a vintage 2006. It pours pitch black and the head is small, but creamy and light brown. The aroma is smooth with notes of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and light notes of wood. The flavour is incredibly smooth, creamy and delicious and has no trace of alcohol. It’s harmonic with light woody notes, coffee/espresso is the most dominant note in the complex flavour, and it develops all the way through. Towards the finish I get light notes of chocolate and the finish is very long and has a light, pleasant woody note. I wish I could have cellared this one a year or more - but I enjoyed it a lot!! 2331

A Mes rate. Bottle at LCRBM #5.
Standard but good black body and tan head looks. Grainy and fruity, some coffee bitterness and a truck load of American chocolate. Nice and roasty but a little too lactic for me. The barrel is barely there which is a good thing and the faint oaky hints are good. Decent but just not something I could get excited about.
