Bottle at Bukowski’s after Night of the Funk in Boston. Pours a deep crimson hued brown with a medium to thick tanned beige head. Malty, sweet, and light hop aromas. A little bit metallic, a touch sweet. Malty and hoppy with a just burnt finish.

Pours a deep ruby brown with a dense light tan head that retains well. Rich dark German malt aroma with mild brown sugar, and doughy toffee- clean and feels German. Creamy body/mouthfeel with a toasted dry malt character in the flavor. Mild cocoa and dark German malt breadiness with a mild toffee richness. Clean and rounded- a solid take on the style. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2009 1 liter fliptop bottle. Pours clear and dark crimson in color, with a minimal, swirly head of tan foam. Scattered, sugary spots of lacing dot the glass. The aroma is largely sweet, driven by dark fruits such as raisins and prunes, with a big brown sugar and molasses component. Flavors are similar, quite fruity and figgy overall, rich with raisin and caramelized sugar, showing hints of sweet pipe tobacco and cocoa on the finish. There might be a touch of earthy, worn leather in there for good measure. The palate is smooth, lightly carbonated, and somewhat syrupy, finishing warm but not boozy. Overall, a pretty decent doppelbock. redlight (1460), Winter Park, Florida, USA
