| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2009 22 ounce bomber - $4.99 at Hop City in Atlanta, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours out an amber-brown body with damned great clarity and topped with a bubbly, whitish head.
Smell: Distinctly German maltiness give impressions of toasted breadiness with a background hint of brown sugar. Merest note of roast in there as well. Notably fruity, in as much as I’m now making notes on its fruitiness. Slightly earthy hops in the mix.
Taste: Lightly sweet, bready Vienna malts along with touches of brown sugar and further darkened malts in the distance. Yes, that noteworthy fruitiness certainly carries over from the aroma imparting a taste vaguely reminiscent of apple. Earthy, modestly spicy hops with a medium-light bitterness. Dry finish with some lingering maltiness with light grainy tones reaching into the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A decent, if rather fruity Oktoberfest from Pennichuck. While not particularly enamored with it, I had no trouble clearing through the entire bomber minus a few sips doled out to friends Molly and Chuck. puboflyons (609), New Hampshire, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2009 2009 Batch. Pours from a 650 ml. bottle. The color is ruby red to copper with a small but frothy beige head and patterned carbonation bubbles clinging to the side of the glass. The aroma is of sweet mashed malts. The mouthfeel has the texture of honey and runs about medium. The flavor combines a variety of tastes including malts, nuts, toffee, and hops that finish slightly dry. A nice fall drink. jrob21 (1271), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2009 The first one of the season here and I like these especially this time of year. Warms me up for the bigger darker beers to come later this year. This one is pretty par for the course in it’s malt presence and toasty wheat aspects. A little bit of caramel malt working as well. Rather unassuming beer overall but still enjoyable. Drinkable enough to have a couple but memorable enough with its character that you know you are drinking a well crafted beer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2009 Updated: Sep 7, 2009Pours a lot darker than expected. Quickly dissapearing white head, and cloudy dark rusty colored beer. Smell is strong malt and a bit of hops. Very sweet, but not overdone. Finishes sweet. Not overly complex, but also more interesting than many octoberfests that I’ve had. A good Octoberfest, and the 6.25% is certianly well hidden. CheersMate1 (800), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Different label, but same company. Purchased at Hop City in Atlanta,GA: 22 oz. bottle. I think with this beer I am going to have to show my "O Face"! Nice big fluffy head when poured into my mug. This beer has a nice dark brown caramel brown color. This beer is transparent, but it still looks great. Somewhat of a pungent caramel malt aroma. Slight buttery/malt aroma as well. Semi-smooth malt/buttery/toast malt flavor. This beer is pretty good. Reminds me of October. Shit, I wish it were colder. Overall, just a buttery/smooth malt flavor. Nothing terribly impressive, but it has that caramel malt flavor that one can enjoy; decent brew/
