Fairly light aroma reminiscent of fresh squash. Lightly sweet malt flavor with a good amount of hops. A slightly metallic finish detracts from the whole experience.

22oz. Bottle: Semi-sweet aroma. Smells of malts, floral hops, brown sugar, caramel and a hint of bread. Poured copper/brown with a hint of red in color and a medium-sized, khaki head that lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Small lacing. Lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of malts, brown sugar, resin, floral hops, and a hint of caramel. Light to medium body. Thin, watery texture. Soft to average carbonation. Malty, resinous finish is slightly dry. Not much of a Marzen at all.

Pours deep brown into a stein. Off-white micro head with excellent retention. Metallic malt aromas. Sweet caramel upfront with a crisp, dry pit fruit finish.

Bottle from the Maestro of Malt, Matt Capone. Pours deep brown with 1-finger off-khaki head. Nose is vinous caramel malt, brown sugary, earthy peaty cobwebby esters. Tastes caramel malty, a bit tart, with dry merloty fruit characteristics, and brown sugary, peaty, and earthy notes. Decent complexity and balance makes thisone a nice marzen, with more earthy notes than many.

Cold 22oz bottle: Pours a gorgeous clear, dark red color with a very limited amount of bubbles that dissolve. Aroma is of rich and sweet malts with dark fruits. Taste is terrible; it has a watery, spoiled, metallic taste. What a complete let down. :(
