Peoples Pint Barrel Aged Slippery Slope

Strong boozy aroma has plenty of borbon barrel character to the detriment of anything else. Clear copper body is still and lifeless with no head and no legs. Strong alcohol flavour and warming. Slightly sour fruit flavour with obvious wood and bourbon flavours not quite as overwhelming as the aroma suggested. Syrupy body is somewhat thin and watery and the lack of carbonation doesn’t make any more enticing. Bottle sampled at the Ratebeer Mondial Gathering 2005.

Cloudy orange-yellow-amber, looks like a nice sunset. No head, no legs or coating. Alcohol in the nose immediately. Dry woodiness, acidic and very fuelish. Near-spoiled fruits, peaches, nectarines, candied oranges. Bourbon noted as well. In the flavor, the bourbon is overdone, dominating the flavor profile. Light body is thin and perhaps aged too long (maybe this is older than 2004). Burns going down, with notes of coconut and honey. Sourish yeast on the end as well, with a very slippery/watery texture and is quite flat.

Couleur ambrée et claire, pleinement translucide. Aromes de bois, de sucre brun, de miel sucré et d’herbes. Sucre et alcool sur toute la ligne. En bouche, quelques caractéristiques boisées tentent maladroitement de nous faire oublier l’alcool et les résidu de sucre.

Pours a clear reddish copper color with no head. Aroma of spices, wood and alcohol. Flavor of wood, spices, apples and honey. Syrupy texture. It’s a very alcoholic beverage but still I enjoy it quite a lot.

Ratebeer Mondial Gathering (tiggmtl). Alcool en puissance! Raisins, miel, noix, boisé, cognac, pommes vertes, cerises...

Clear light amber, no head. Vegetal honeyed wood nose. Sprucey and oxidized flavours match the bill. Alcohol feel is heavy in mouth, burning honey and oak interplays. Liquorous texture, thin bodied though slightly slick. No carbonation. Decent stuff.

The Lure:
Oak aging is obvious, and barrels of alcohol are generously unloaded into the honey and caramel blend. This is one mean and drunk braggot.

The Festivities:
Peaches and essentially fruity honey are diminished by the flat, drowsy body. Alcohol burns a lot less than predicted by the aroma, but sweetness and barrel-aging get cloying for me after a while. Nothing complex in here, nor did I find any sort of decadence I like.

Transcendence:
A huge puddle isn’t as inspiring as a flowing creek.
