Commercial Description:
Broadfork is a dry stout. Deep mahogany in color, brewed with 8 different malts, it has coffee-like bitterness. Almost black in color with dark roasted malts giving it almost a smoky flavor. Low in alcohol (3%) with a heavy body makes this stout dry and slightly bitter.

Tap at the brewpub. Darkest brown, nice tan head. Roasty aroma, light diacetyl and DMS. Roasty flavors with butterscotch notes. Dry roasty finish. Not a favorite.

Pint at the brewpub. Deathly black, creamy small topping, total opacity. Fairly sharp bitter chocolate-coffee nose, soft but tingly mouthfeel, quite dry. Too light overall, but lovely rich coffee bitterness and a light coating of tar and cigarettes bring this up a bit. Not terribly bitter at the finish.

Has a very dark brown color and a roasted malt smell. Taste was of smooth roasted malts and finished smooth, but a little watery. Overall it was an ok stout, not the best, but not bad. I did not like the watery taste to much.

NERAX '03: Clear brown/ruby color, coffee and chocolate aroma, slightly watery mouthfeel. Robust, long aftertaste.
