Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 16, 2009 In short: A lifeless watery roasted dark beer with raisin notes. Extra bland.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Almost black body with almost no head
In long: The very light nose offers a tiny bit of roastiness. Body is watery and the carbonation is rather low making for a rather lifeless mouthfeel. Flavour of ashes in water, some raisins, a tiny bit of molasses. No hops presence. A whole lot of nothing. Really unsatisfying. I drank this at the pub august 2009 and I see the two ratings for that beer are 3 months before I had it. Could it be that this beer was on tap for three months and it was getting tired. That pint felt more tired than an overweight 30-something virgin dude after a Star Trek marathon night on the SciFi channel. MartinT (5026), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 25, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This stout Dunkel offers commendable molasses and roastiness to lather both tongue and minty hops for a satisfying pint.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the brownish blackness.
-The hop bitterness is rather leafy.
-This may be a tad too sweet for the style.
-The aroma is quite shy, but the harmonious flavor profile makes up for it.
On tap at the brewpub. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA May 21, 2009 on tap-pours a tan ring for a head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty, some dark fruit. Taste is sweet dark malt-roasty, some dark fruit, spice hops. Dryish finish.
