Almost no sweetness, the malt is more doughy. Very well made and fresh. Dark in color, a wonderful clone of Victory’s Hop Devil. A delight and way better than anticipated. Some goodies in the form of bottle-conditioning. Found at Table and Vine. Session written all over it. CamdenD (625), Madrid, Spain
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2005 I suppose this beer doesn’t travel well overseas, but damn, it travels well down Route 91. From the bottle (mine is labled at 5.2 ABV for what it’s worth...), this beer pours like a bottle conditioned ale, it is, and with little head and a some resin. Beautiful mahogany colored IPA. The aroma is of cascade and butter -- smooth yet spicy -- just like the beer. Fantastically drinkable, just not too shocking, and for whatever reason, that’s what people look for in IPAs now. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 2, 2005 Cask Conditioned 4/27/2005 at NERAX Orange-golden beer, hazy with a small white head, fleeting. Aroma of American hops and caramel, some astringency. Flavor is dominantly hoppy, quite dry on the finish, with a medium body, some paperiness as it finishes and a bit of fruitiness in there. I’d like some more sweet malt. OldGrowth (1434), North Carolina, USA

Bitter flavors, same as aromas. Medium body, lite creamy mouthfeel, Bitter fruity finish. Nice, but left me wanting a little something more out of it. SilkTork (4192), Rochester, Kent, England

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 10, 2004 Full marks to CAMRA for getting over so many US beers in cask, but this one either didn’t stand up to the trip too well, or it’s just not a good beer. I know exactly what Duff meant by "dog biscuits" - the aroma is dominated by cereal. I had it down as Weetabix/ Quite a lot of dull malt in the flavour and some hops lurking in the background, but it doesn’t come together at all well. Average at best. A shame. Cask, GBBF 2004.
