Occasional. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jun 4, 2009 Brown pour with a creamy tan head and lace. Light caramel malt with an off kinda chemical aroma. Caramel and abv flavor. A tad foamy and thin. A drinkable beer but just not spot on. PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA Jun 4, 2009 Bottle or growler (don’t remember) Brownish pour with a tan head. Slightly infected aroma- tartish notes over caramel and diacetyl. Sweet flavor with mixed notes of caramel, butter (diacetyl) and tart infected papery notes. Pretty off. Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 31, 2009 Bottle. Pours a brown body with an off white head. Woody malty caramel with hints of smoke malt and bread. Slight malty etoh warming. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Mar 22, 2009 Bottle. Some nice smoke and malt back. Some sweetness and finishes clean. Nice balance. j12601 (1151), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Mar 22, 2009 Bottle shared at the Smoke from the Oak release, labeled as People’s Pint McShagger’s Double Ewe Scotch Ale. Pours a hazy brown with a beige to tan head. Aroma is piles of molasses with some roast malt. Sweet caramel on a medium thick body. Finishes with a light hop bitterness. vwsteggie (684), Paxton, Massachusetts, USA Nov 29, 2002 This was my first scotch ale so I did not know what to expect, so take this reveiw with a grain of salt. Has a very dark brown color and a sweet smell. Taste is sweet with some roasted flavor to it. It finishes smooth with slight bitterness. Overall I did not like this beer too much because of the sweetness in both the smell and taste. It just did not seem to mix well. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Nov 15, 2002 Very sweet and slightly smoky; earthy and coniferous. Lots of caramel, very toasty and warming; grainy but soft mouthfeel; the mix of hot buttered/caramel/pecan popcorn from Garretts popcorn shop on the corner of Adams and State in Chicago. Yum.
