Cask sample at Volo Cask Days 2008. Ruby-brown colour. Aroma of toasted malt, dried grass and coffee. Light bodied. Flavour of toasted malt with a bit of cocoa and a good hop balance. Tasty and sessionable, just like a good mild should be.

[1800-20081017] Cask. Aroma is mostly smoked and earthy with mild sweet cola syrup and chocolate notes. Hazy, red amber body with a quick bubbly dark red head. Mild tea and earthy chocolate flavour. Medium body. Very drinkable.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2008. Hazy deep reddish borwn pour with an average off-white had. Dry roast aroma, quite nutty, slightly herbal, quite strong iodine sharpness. Taste followed, only moreso - roast malt and a somewhat ’’Islay’’ seaweed/peat character: I liked it. Astringent and oily mouthfeel, light-bodied, left a dry iodine coating on my tongue: in the final analysis, perhaps a tad too much iodine.

Cask at ’Volo Cask Days 2008’. Pours a very deep brown with a spare diminishing white head. Aroma of caramel malt, a hint of smoke or peat, dark fruit and some light hops. Malty flavour along with light hops and some fruit -- it’s simple but good, tastes better then I expected. Average bodied. A good Mild.

on cask at volo cask days 2008. brown bodied, clear, minimal carbonation. malt nose with chocolate and caramel malts. i didnt get any hops in the nose especially if this was a dry hopped cask version. the flavours are nice and malty although a bit thin, which is to be expected from a mild. some nuttiness near the finish. this brew served its purpose as a palate cleanser on a day of hop bombs and i did enjoy this brew.

Dark brown with nice lacing and no head. Served fresh up first day for Canada Day. Mild aroma of mostly hop. Medium mouthful. Good drinkability and restrained bitterness.

Brown colour, Bitter. Better than average brew for them and in general. OK with a tasty meal. Medium to thin mouthfeel. Bit of malty

Aroma of chocolate, hops and some malt. Copper, small tan head, lot’s of lace. Big malt flavour start, and assertive hops too. Well balanced, very smooth, dry finish. Very good session ale.
