| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 16, 2006 Updated: Sep 27, 2006rerate from a this years bottles. 48F Lager glass. Very subtle malts, very lilttle hops a bit metalic. Slight hazy brown color, rather than amber-red like most marzens, thin ring of whitish head. Ok taste, not very marzen like either, finishes kinda funky a bit of bread. Fairly light palate with medium to higher carbonation. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 29, 2005 12oz bottle via trade with jzzbassman - Thanks Monte! - Pours copper with a small tan head that dissipates quickly to a ring around the glass. Aroma is barely there. Slight malts with a touch of caramel. Flavor is malty, notes of caramel and grains. No hop presence at the end at all. Palate is light and somewhat airy. The malts are there but the carbonation keeps the flavor from coming through in my opinion. This was average at best. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 7, 2005 Sampled at Pete’s. This is the KBC’s first attempt at this style, and I hope things go better for them while brewing subsquent batches. Clear, dark copper in appearance with only a collared white head. The caramel aroma was rich and enjoyable, but the flavor was underattenduated with many residual sugars. Perhaps too many crystal malts were used because not only did those malts completely dominate the flavor, but also resulted in what seemed to be an abnormally high FG for this style. Still, it was a flavorful beer, but some improvements need to, and likely will, be made. Medium-bodied, lightly carbonated and very smooth. September ’05 rerate from bottle: Wow - big improvements! The crystal malt overload/uderattenuated taste is gone and is replaced with a balanced, toasted caramel malt profile. I’ll grab another sixer of this easy drinking beer. jzzbassman (853), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2005 Poured with champagne like bubbles, and had a nice white head with good lacing. Not a lot of aroma, except for something close to roasting ears of corn. Flavor was enjoyable and light, very drinkable although a touch sweet. ¾ (5011), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 2, 2005 Clear amber brown body, the head is medium sized, long-lasting consisting of large bubbles and with a color of adobe. Up front, the flavor is semi-sweet, but empty, very simple... no defects noticed, just very simple. The finish is a bit more interesting: it goes limp on the palate quite quickly, then sweetens very sharply with some marichino cherry and other "fruit cocktail" malt flavors. OVerall very light aroma, with some sweet grains and some "festive" corn, rye, bread and spices, but genuinely light everywhere.
