The aroma is lightly spiced hops and... dates (?). Hazey, dark amber color. I think this is a wonderful Octoberfest, with spice and alcohol hitting my chest. Medium bodied and delicious. Go Krebs! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Updated: Feb 17, 20072006 bottle from beerhandy drunk on 2/1/07 Boy was I shocked when this lager poured a huge, frothy head, with tiny, bottle conditioned bottles and with sediment left in the bottle. Very ballsy and very high quality to bottle condition and not filter a lager. I like that. Body looks like the an autumn day; lots of browns, reds, ambers, etc...Light butter-colored head is large, and recedes stubbornly but always stays high above the liquid, leaving fantastic lacing down the glass. Sediment left behind, and the beer being well-cellared, the liquid is mostly clear. At first the nose is pretty tough to discern much from. But writing that off to the large amount of foam, I let it recede some, and warm up slightly. A nutty/earthy maltiness combines with a light fruitiness from the malt. Light melanoidins are not overdone (they are easy to overdo, IMO) with a strong, crisp yeast finish. Caramel and dry toffee notes are well-attenuated and contribute flavor without overdoing the sweetness or thickness. A light pale malt creaminess adds appropriate texture, actually, just supportive enough but still allowing the beer to be very drinkable and crisp. Grainy, earthy, grassy hops are pleasing and very moderately done, adding bite to the yeast and contrast/balance to the pale malts. Back to the aroma, after warming some, I definitely smell a dry, leafy hoppiness, combining with slightly earthy and toffee-like malts, but it’s mainly a crisp yeastiness with light minerals and rather subtle overall. I think what impressed me most about this one was the complete lack of any flaw...and the awesome drinkability and balance. Who woulda known? I’ll have to get more, this was an absolute pleasure. Somewhat watery, but certainly nothing to take points off, as that fits the style. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

Bottle pours a bronzed orange body with a slight haze and delicate carbonation topped by a creamy, ecru head. Hops are forward in the aroma, green and near-vegetal in their pungency while underneath lies a malty, caramel base. Smooth in the mouth with a light lift of carbonation to spice up the finish. Flavor is both bitter and sweet with a good balance between malts and hops. A serious roasted character plays nicely off the fresh flavor of the Nobles.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2005 Poured with champagne like bubbles, and had a nice white head with good lacing. Not a lot of aroma, except for something close to roasting ears of corn. Flavor was enjoyable and light, very drinkable although a touch sweet. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 2, 2005 Clear amber brown body, the head is medium sized, long-lasting consisting of large bubbles and with a color of adobe. Up front, the flavor is semi-sweet, but empty, very simple... no defects noticed, just very simple. The finish is a bit more interesting: it goes limp on the palate quite quickly, then sweetens very sharply with some marichino cherry and other "fruit cocktail" malt flavors. OVerall very light aroma, with some sweet grains and some "festive" corn, rye, bread and spices, but genuinely light everywhere.
