Simple beer here, chocolate and dark fruit, with a tinge of smoke. No roast detected which is usually typical for this style. Nothing super interesting, yet highly quaffable. From 12-oz bottle pours a clear dark brow colored brew with a thin beige head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some light chocolate, flowery hops and a touch of dark pitted fruits. Flavor is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of roasted dark malt, some flowery hops and a touch of chocolate. Finish is slightly dry with some metallic texture with a roasted malt and flowery hop aftertaste. JK (2952), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

Considerable roasted grain in the flavor and aroma, but lager yeast as well. Just a hint of smoke. This beer could take it up to a new level with some improvement to the thin palate. An enjoyable session beer, and it was cheap. coyotehunter (551), , Michigan, USA

Pours black with a small ring of tan for a head...nose is roasty and chocolatey. Taste is ok of the same...a little roasty and some chocolate notes, with a light cherry in the background. Good consistency, but it acts like something is missing. JPDIPSO (4906), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Murky dark brown with a diminished light tan head. Roasted malt, bit of mineral and some grains. Quite thick and nearly chewy in feel. Dry from the start with roasted and dark toasted malt flavors. Not real deep, but for me this is a working mans brew. Full bodied, with hearty malt and a stick to your ribs quality. I could see myself imbibing this during simple projects about the house. jrob21 (1268), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

A little thin and uninspired though but easily drinkable. Slight roasted malt and sweet aroma. Flavor is dark fruit, a touch of cola, and a faint hint of chocolate. Finish is a little bitter like coffee. Bottle sent on from Soonah. Cavie (1430), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

Roasted finish but holds a pretty strong taste. Almost too sharp to enjoy. FatTony (121), Augusta, Georgia, USA

Aroma was chocolate and malt with a hint of cherry. Slightly bitter, but enjoyable stout flavor with a lighter palate. Almost a "light stout" if you will permit the blasphemy. A good drinker. Thanks SK!
