It was great stuff, lovely mahogany colour with a good white head, rich heady aroma of malt/ fruity hops, and a malt packed palate, certainly used to be a fantastic beer, wish I could get my hands on some now! The lager was great too! rodneykm (109), Westminster, South Carolina, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 21, 2008 Dark amber-brown with thin head. Carmel malts and berry aroma notes. Carmel, berries, and mild hop balance. Smooth with mild bitter finish. docsteigs (139), USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 20, 2008 OK; pours red brown with scant head. No real smell accents; taste smooth and malty (for an ale). Finish clean but unremarkable; nothing much more than a conventional mass market product here. badinplaid (103), USA

I liked the beer, but couldn’t drink more than 1-2 a night. Maddog (255), Kettering, Ohio, USA
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 1/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Back in the early to mid 90’s, this beer was quite a find. I was in the Army stationed in the south, you know, that whole section of our country that has nothing but Crap Light and/or Lonestar. It was big, malty and hoppy. Today, it is without anything that would make this a good beer. To put it mildly, this beer thrills me like kissing my sister. The color is a deep amber, brown, whatever that is worth. There is no presence of hops which for the style is not that surprising, but my God, have something worthwhile. I will admit that this brew is balanced.....like a teeter totter with no one on either end. LinusStick (1856), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 30, 2007 To use a metaphor this beer is the high school cheerleader in any teen movie. Beautiful to look at but not much going on inside. Aroma was so so. Mostly iced tea and a hint of hops. Pour was absolutely beautiful. A nice burnt amber with a 2 finger tan head. Taste was a iced tea with a hint of caramel malt and a hoppy bite for an aftertaste. I’ve had this a million times and just got to rating it. It was better than I thought.
