Sour barley malt flavor with a hint of brown sugar and a moderate hops finish for the style. Used to be one of the best choices in the late 80s/early 90s when it was one of the few micros around. Still decent but not as distinctive as it used to be. thegreenrooster (1846), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 17, 2007 Pour is a brown with a white head. Aroma is where this one has problems. I can get almost nothing. Some malts but not much else. Flavor on the other hand is decent. Light caramel malts with some roasted nuts and finishes with a nice hoppy backbone. Nothing earth shattering but a decent beer available almost eveywhere. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 17, 2007 A brown pour without much of a nose. A flavor that is rich in maltiness and has an odd bitter at the end. I don’t think it is hops it is just odd. Not a standout but a decent beer. A drinkable offering. gmcase (113), Indiana, USA
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Jun 10, 2007 bottle. boo and hiss. One not even worth talking about. Anoying cheapness to the flavor. Unfortunately I bought a 6 pack. It was hard to finish. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 30, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours reddish copper brown with thin beige head. The aroma is toasty with a little bit of caramel, random spices, and some plastic. The flavor is light caramel and toast, then some zest and grass. The finish is slightly dry and toasty, but a hint of that plastic kicks back in. Definitely not superior, but decent, considering. bboven (103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 28, 2007 I’ve been putting off trying this beer for a long time and for good reason. After reading about Pete’ startup in all the homebrewing books I’m sorely disappointed. The only goodf thing about this beer is the appearance. It smells like berries and sourness and tastes about the same. It seems like someone cut what was once a decent brown ale with 50 percent water and then brewed it in dirty fermenters. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA

Good medium brown pour big head that settled down, little lacing. Easy on the palate, needs to be thicker. Flavor is so-so, slight malty sweetness a touch of hops but very one dimensional. This beer used to be much better, too bad they dumbed down the recipe in order to appeal to the masses. bigcat03 (191), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 21, 2007 Bottle from Hy-Vee poured into an english pint - Pours a red amber with a 1 finger off-white head. Aroma smells of nuts, cardboard, and wheat bread. Basic taste of nuts and malt with a little nutty bitterness in the aftertaste. Watery body and decent carbonation. Watery and basic is not my definition of "wicked". I would take an Abita Turbodog over this for an American Brown any day.
