| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 19, 2005 The bottle poured a deep reddish brown clear beverage with a small smooth white head that was mostly diminishing and left some lacing on the glass. The aroma was dominated by a spicy-grassy hop aroma with some subtle malt notes. The body was medium with somewhat lively carbonation and a slightly dry texture. The flavor starts off somewhat sweet but quickly takes on a sour character. The finish is fairly long, bitter-sour and lightly astringent. MoreHead (355), Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 15, 2005 Aroma of C hop, chocolate malt. Good carbonation. Nicely hoppy, citrus, and brown in that it had a bit of root beer taste to it and had a reddish brown colour. Well malted, tasty and I could have this as a regular brew.A very nice ale, in a blind taste I thought it was a Great Lakes. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 14, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Honestly, this beer really seems to have undergone quite a change from 10+ years ago, back when I first started drinking "better" beer and Pete’s Wicked Ale was one of my staples. It used to be more roasty with a mild hoppy bite in the finish, but now, it’s sweet, sugary and mildly caramely with seemingly no hops. Even this wouldn’t be bad tasting, but there’s a fairly obvious flavor of cardboard that’s pretty hard to overlook. The odor of cardboard emanates from the glass too, overpowering the sweet corn aroma, not that the corn is appealing either. Light-medium bodied, lightly carbonated, and with the sweet cardboard having nothing to break it up, the beer becomes stagnant on the palate. Dark amber color is also a lighter shade than it used to be. The off-white head pours to half an inch and settles to a ring. Pete’s Wicked Ale was never anything all that special, but it was decent enough. This is just brown sugar water in comparison. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 14, 2005 Dark brown and copper, creamy light tan head. Nose was very light with notes of overripe pineapple, nutty caramel, and toast, with lighter floral tones. Flavor was malty up front with earthy caramel notes throughout, and light fruity floral hints coming late. Light bodied, medium carbonation, dry finish. Back in the day, I used to think this was good.....
