Feb 28, 2005 Reddish in the glass, with a thin and diminishing head. Robust enough on the tongue, but a little rough and tinny. The aroma and taste of hops are there, but aren’t exceptional. There is an artificial sweetness around the edges. A good enough drinkin’ beer, but nothing special.

Feb 27, 2005 Hopsy aroma. Nice medium brown color. Large head fully recedes to nada head. Fair lacing. Light hopsy taste. Not a whole lot else going on in the flavor department. My first brown ale.

Feb 26, 2005 Clear amber brew - pretty. Little head - disappointing. Flavor is not that impressive. Some roastiness but overall it lacks flavor - bland. Might be a decent daily drinker but nothing more. Not offensive but nothing special. One & done for me.

Feb 22, 2005 lager / caramel, molasses, but cloying and it just doesn’t come together well enough, filling. i have no devilish urge to let loose; moreover, i want a different beer. want a popular brown ale? go goose island, rogue, DH, etc. forget this example.

Feb 18, 2005 Bottle of 2004 courtesy of Kevbert. Aroma of hoppps and wheaty fruit goodness. Can’t commment on the Pour because I drank it from the bottle but from the picture its seems pretty average. When i took the first drink I got taken back by a barrage of flavors. However the boys at Petes need to pick some flavors that actually mesh well together. I detected alot of that caramel/molasses/sweet beet flavor that is the sign of a garbage beer. This is still above average but definitely nothing to brag about!

Feb 11, 2005 Good Brown color and a tan head. Aroma is mildly skunky, and a tad bit malty. The flavor is a slight bit bitter, and a slight bit malty (some roasted and caramel notes.) This isnt a great beer, but hell, it is a good step up from what the masses drink.

Feb 11, 2005 pours a nice dark amber with a small haed. Sweet malty aroma. Flavor is of sweet malts and a bit of sourness. Not much flavor though.. Would be much better with more flavor. Watery mouthfeel.

Feb 4, 2005 Poured small head, large foam, diminished within a minute. Color is beautiful. I would rate the flavor higher if there was more of it. That’s it! It just needs more flavor. It is a very drinkable smooth beer and would be easy to suck down too many, but to make me grab a six pack when I see it, it needs more aftertaste.
