Reddish/brown color with a fairly thick tan head. Mildly sweet malt aroma with a hint of toffee. Flavor was mostly sweet malt with very little hop presence. I was encouraged when I first poured the beer, it looked great Everything else after that was so very ordinary.

Bottle. Minus 1 appearance point for "wicked-halloween" themed label. Another lackluster brown ale: good barley malt presence, just too mild mannered for my taste.

Aroma is light, not much there. Mostly bready, and a little bit sour. Flavour is primarily mildly sweet malts.

Bottle: Red brown, almost no head, aroma of coffee and fruity. Taste is sweet with clear traces of malt.

Not a bad beer at all to have about the house. An enjoyable malty-light caramel brew for an Autumn afternoon -- even though it doesn’t seem to possess any single outstanding quality. A bit lighter than the Bass Ale I enjoyed just prior to the reviewed bottle . . .

Bottle. Aroma of caramel, vanilla and nuts. Clear deep auburn with a thin tan head. Moderate carbonation. Tastes sweet and caramelly. Finishes fast with little bitterness. Thin. Pale version of an American Brown, though it may be one of the first.
