12-ounce bottle. Deep dark amber color with only slight white head (after gushing). Moderate malty aroma. Medium body, solid carbonation, front-to-back hop bitterness underlying malty flavor balance. Nice mouthfeel. Toasted character does well to balance the malty sweetness. Late hop bitterness makes its presence known but so does a caramel char. Overall, nice balance. A bit carbonated though.

This one got better as I drank it; didn’t start off all that great though. Slightly hoppy.

6-8-08. 12oz bottle. Poured nice ruby with a beige head. Smelled of toasted grains and molasses. Tasted a little syrupy. Toffee, nuts, and some fruitiness, but a little grass in the finish. Not bad.

Bottle. Body is a nice reddish amber and supports a pretty good fluffy head. Aromas are malty... caramel and nuts with a little bit of a crisp grass and citrus. Flavor is a bit ugly, especially when compared to the appearance and aromas, both of which were nice. Kind of a watery malt presence with a little bit of a taste of oldness.

A long-time favourite. Nice amber body. Large tan head. Caramel and toasty nose. Taste of nuts, caramel and malts. Some hops in there too. Dry finish.

This beer along with Sierra Nevada and Anchor Steam will always be high on my list. These were the first beers that got me away from the soul-less macros. Dark carmel color. Somewhat nutty and very smoothe. Very refreshing on a hot summer day.
